Sovietlukmanov
"Very well, I'll be in tours and events if you need me" Kyra went over to the tours and event section. Kyra then went to Jonan who was nearby, and said "What do you think I should check, Jonan?"
TheTerminator2004
"We just need to ask." Jonan replied. "Excuse me," Jonan said to the bored looking woman sitting behind the desk, "could you tell us about any festivals that might be coming up soon? We're quite eager to experience some of the culture of this wonderful city."
phawk69
Approaching the "General Information" desk, T'skar asks, "I have heard there was once a great sword maker in Zooz. Would you have any information on him?"
Malchik
The man at the Information desk produces a small pamphlet. "I am afraid that apart from his reputation this city has nothing to show he was ever here. There are only five swords in the whole of Bashkher. They are in museums in Papred, Dohoti, Memtuz and Ippikander. The experts believe that there must originally have been nine swords. There are rumours of one lost at sea off Golconar and another lost in the Shorava desert. The first of those rumours does have supporting evidence but the second has none as far as I know. The whereabouts of the other two swords - if they ever did exist - is unknown." The pamphlet repeats the same information with illustrations of the sword in Papred and more detailed analysis of the inscriptions on the hilts of those in museums. None of this is new to you. At the bottom of the pamphlet are references to publications by Zarim Bembolia. There are also three advertisements; two for trainers in Zooz who specialise in swordsmanship and one for a weaponsmith offering inexpensive replicas of the swords. At the events desk the woman (ooc>did I say she was a woman?) brightens up at the arrival of potential customers. "Well, like all Bashkher we celebrate the week-long Festival of Colour starting in three days. We are not quite so riotous in Zooz as in other cities I have heard of but don't wear your best clothes even here. The main events are the nightly candle floating ceremonies. As our temples are too small to hold them on site they are held on the central lake and on the river up at the landing. At the end of the week there will be a display of fireworks in the square. If you were looking for something to do before then there are various tours you can book at the tour desk. For entertainment we have several theatres, two dance companies and a varied selection of bars and clubs. Tomorrow the Zooz orchestra will be giving two concerts. Is there anything specific you would like to know more about?"
tiaxanderson
((OOC -> Why aren't there any mails in my inbox telling me you people replied.. Agh)) Tiax followed T'skar to the 'General Information' desk and listens to what the man has to say about T'skars question. Unfortunatly it doesn't reveal anything they didn't know. The only thing that is interesting are seemingly meaningless advertisments, two about swordsmanship trainers and one about a weaponsmith offering inexpensive replica's. 'I doubt they'll be able to shed much light on our cause, but perhaps... To be able to make a replica you must have seen the sword and have a degree of knowlage about the original creator, else you can't make a proper replica.' Tiax taps T'skars shoulder and points to the weaponsmiths advertisment. "We could visit that weaponsmith, maybe he knows someting.." After a little pause he continues, quickly adding his other thoughts to his sentence. "Or he could make replica's for us of ours..."
phawk69
"I do have one question: why, if this is such a peaceful place, are there two places offering swordsmanship lessons?" T'skar asks quite quickly, and loudly, as she digs an elbow into Tiax's ribs, cutting him off abruptly. She shoots him a 'we'll talk about this outside' look, as she waits for the answer. Malchik
The man laughs. "People learn fencing and swordplay as a leisure activity in Zooz. I thought it was a popular hobby in many places."
Malchik
The people at the desks look up enquiringly as you stand there staring. "Is there anything else we can help you with?"
TheTerminator2004
"Is there anything to do with the history of the city, and Bashker, going on? Me and my companions have always been fascinated by that sort of thing, so a museum or something would be very interesting."
Malchik
The woman shakes her head. "Everything here is destroyed periodically by the flooding. It is a good thing for it brings a layer of very fertile soil that is deposited over the fields and we all know how to avoid loss of life and how to protect our personal belongings. But no one would have the time to keep dismantling a museum! We offer tours that might interest you. You can find out dates and times at the tour desk but I know the general outlines. There is a morning city tour that takes in the main square, the governor's office, the temple treasury, the craft centre and the pump room. The afternoon tour looks at the construction of the sewers and the water features. There are farm trips and farm stays, which can include horse riding, and you can also take river trips further into the mountains." She hands you a small pamphlet 'What's on in Zooz'. It does not add to what you have already been told except to give more details about the clubs and theatres.
