Malchik
OOC> The slums etc are what you see from the train. The choice of caves, village or isolated house is now to be made.
phawk69
ooc> I'm not sure how this will go, I am on dial-up for the next 2 months, and may not have a lot of opportunity to keep updated, or to update. If it gets too long between posts, feel free to write me out. ic>T'skar looks around at the country side and sighs "I can't believe people live like that. Did you see those children? No wonder plague thrives in this area. I have never seen such filth, or such poverty." Turning toward the town, she says "That must be where the inn is, what was it's name again? I don't think we need to worry about getting a bed, as we are the only passengers this morning. So, should we check the caves first, or the village? I don't think we would be amiss to ask around that farmstead as well, but we can go there later, as it is past town. My vote would be the caves while there is still daylight." She gives a small shudder and waits for the rest to respond.
mordred kaides
mordred turns to t'skar"I disagree the daylight won't reach the inside of the caves its best to first go to the Village, atleast that's my opinion."
tiaxanderson
"I agree with Mordred on this one T'Skar." Tiax walks up to T'Skar and mordred. "In daylight people often tend to be more friendly and we are to secure a place to sleep first for safty and health resons." Tiax turns away, looking at the village. "After we made sure we can go back to the inn at alomst anytime we could still head to the cave in daylight or if night already fell in the dark." While turning to Baba Jhonn now. "We could also suggest that we seperate in groups for now. One to the village with the primary objective to secure beds. and the other to explore the countryside including the cave." Tiax pauses for a moment and seems to checck his equipment..... "Then there were thoos followers.... Anyway we have choises enough."
karkarinus
(ooc- If anyone writes T'Skar out of this, they'll have me to deal with! >:( If you like, I'll 'conceal' you and you can tag along invisibly while you get your connection sorted out. I may be down too for a few days in a couple of weeks' time, as I'm installing ADSL) (On topic) Kalmer is dumbfounded at the sight of such dire poverty and misery. As the train chugs slowly past the hunger-stricken families, time seems to pass in slow motion. Never has he witnessed such extreme suffering, and his heart sinks as he suddenly realises how fortunate he and his companions - and his family..... his family..... - are. If he was a great magician or inmeasurably wealthy, he would save them all........ but all he can do is stare..... As the train edges through the hills, he tries to put it out of his mind. "I'm afraid I too agree with Mandrake." Says Kalmer to T'Skar. "If we are to stick together, I feel the villagers will be more amicable by day, and daylight will not be of any comfort once in the caves. If, however, we decide to split up, I will be glad to accompany you to the caves. I could do with some excitment - something to occupy my mind!" Again, he almost smiles. "What say you, Shaman?" phawk69
T'skar eyes the rest of the group, "Hey, what about those watchers? We haven't seen anyone following us since we came to this side, nor was there anyone else on the train. I wonder ..." Without further ado, T'skar casts a spell over the group, seeing if she can sense a mind manipulation on any of their number, and doing a little surface scan to see if anyone is guilty/uneasy, as apposed to scared/uneasy. tiaxanderson
<thoughts>"Hmm some higher form of detecting evil combined with mind manipulation to see if anyone is controlled or even has a bad concius. Quite impressive."</thoughts>Tiax waits a while until it seems T'Skar has finished checking"And? Something wrong?"Tiax faces T'Skar"I would be a bit supprised if anyone would be infected by such spellcraft. Yet we musn't rule out anything." Malchik
None of you has been affected by any influences. The caves are relatively small and do not penetrate far into the rock. Except for one that goes a little deeper into the rock you do not even need torches to see by. There isn't anything of interest unless you are a student of grafitti. Even the deeper cave holds little sense of unease although it might be different at night in total darkness. There is nothing to suggest anything odd or unusual has ever happened here. The caves are not occupied by Zarim Bembolia whether he is a human being or not. You are the only visitors. The trail through the caves brings you out higher on the hillside and you can see both village and isolated dwelling more clearly. All the buildings in the settlement seem prosperous (from this distance at least). The isolated building is circular with a white fence around it. A deep dry valley splits what had at first seemed flat land. The only way to reach the small town from the round house is by a steep path across the hills; a tiring walk that would take at least two hours in each direction. It is currently only midday so you could do it if you chose. Whichever way you go it is about 40 minutes walking down (twice that to walk up). phawk69
T'skar looks at the rest "I had to be sure, as there was some mind magic used in Dohoti, and I'm not sure where it has come from. We need to know that none of us are passing information on to Ayala. I have detected nothing out of the ordinary though, so at least she isn't using one of us to gather infromation on Zarim." Looking around at their surroundings, she says "If I was trying to hide from the rest of society, I would likely be in an out of the way place, and yet still under peoples' noses." karkarinus
"hmmm..." muses Kalmer to himself. "The quiet type - keeps himself to himself - seems a nice enough kind of guy. Always the worst!" (ooc - Malchik, could you clarify the distances from where we are to the settlement, and from where we are to the round house? Having trouble envisaging it!)
