Malchik
OOC> I didn't specify whether we numbered clockwise or anticlockise. In fact it doesn't matter but for the sake of argument let's say clockwise. Number 5 is thus two trapdoors to the right and in the same building as 1 (and 3). Number 6 is the next trapdoor to the right and in the other building. on topic> Kalmer finds the trapdoor to open onto a view similar to that of the first attempt. The sounds suggest that the palace denizens here are having a party. There is a lot of laughter. T'skar opening trapdoor six has a shock. The view is not so dissimilar, a corridor lit by torches but it is as silent as the tomb. What causes the shock however is the temperature. It is bitterly cold inside. Not a natural cold. She also senses a palpable emotion in the atmosphere - one of sadness and despair.
phawk69
Looking across at Kalmer, T'skar sees him shake his head. She nods in reply, then turns and starts down into the hall below.
Malchik
OOC> Unless advised otherwise I will assume the rest of the group is following. The view that meets t'skar's eyes is of two long corridors stretching uninterrupted for what appears to be the full length of the triangle. Each corridor is lined on both sides with doors. These are sometimes open, more commonly closed but anyone can tell that the rooms are not in use. A complete perambulation of all three sides of the triangle gives her little additional information other than locating three sets of stairs leading down. The air coming from the lower floors is colder than ever. Considering the exterior shape of the building this interior feels odd. At the mid point of each of the three corridors she feels an odd tingling sensation. Whilst magic in Bashkher is uncommon and generally regarded as non existent she has had the same feeling before when occasionally confronted with a magical lock or concealment spell. This together with the odd nature of the temperature make it clear that whilst magic does not work in the high city, someone or something is using it here. karkarinus
(ooc> Yes, we're all here.) ic> T'Skar makes her feelings known, and the group ponder for a moment. Kalmer mentions that the mid-way point of each corridor must be directly aligned with an apex of the other building, and that perhaps this is of some import. If indeed there are access routes between the two buildings, then these halfway points would be the ideal places for them, being distributed evenly around the building, and each one linking directly to one "corner" of the other building. He also remarks that if some magic is at work here, then maybe theirs might work too. He checks along the passageways - particularly near the middle of each - looking and smelling for signs of recent activity. He also checks along the wall itself, looking and feeling for any indications, and all the while listening intently against it. Finally, he holds out one hand as if to reveal, nods at T'Skar and tries the spell...... (ooc> Are the corridors totally flat, or are they sloped at all? At whatt point are the steps located? Halfway along? In the corners? On the inside or outside edge of the corridor?)
Malchik
OOC> The corridors are flat. The stairs are at the three apices of the triangle, each through a door. On topic> As the spell reveal is cast t'skar has a strange sensation, a kind of ripple in the atmosphere. A door materialises directly in front of her, blocking the passage. phawk69
T'skar whispers "What now? Looks like our magic is working again, anyway. I'll have a look at the door while we decide." With that she starts checking the door for traps, and to see if it is locked.
Malchik
The door is unlocked and shows no sign of being trapped.
phawk69
Looking at the others, T'skar cautiously reaches for the door knob, and begins to turn it.
tiaxanderson
Tiax nods to T'Skar while whispering "Do it, but be careful. If something goes wrong I can shift us all out for a few seconds perhaps a good ten." Ever since they discovered that magic works here Tiax has been gathering his magical energy for emergencies. "I really do not like the atmosphere here."
Malchik
The door opens easily but it is not possible to see anything. The view is obscured by a grey mist. For those used to magic it is clear that the door is not merely concealed but magical in itself. After all you walked right down the corridor the first time with no impediment. A logical deduction will tell you, as Kalmer suggested, that this leads to the other part of the palace. But it is also clear that only magic users can connect between the two sections.
