phawk69
Closing the door softly, T'skar conceals it again. She turns to the rest "Lets check downstairs first, we can always come back to one of these doors."
Malchik
As you start down the stairs you realise that the building gets colder as you go down. The sense of unhappiness grows. You also hear a distant sound of movement perhaps at the bottom of the stairwell you have chosen to use. It is too far away to give any indication of what it might be. By careful examination of the stairwell you realise that the size of the building is standard for the High City six floors above ground. It has cellars below but the number of levels is not yet apparent. You reach level 5. (The top is 6)
karkarinus
As they carefully and silently edge their way down the stairway, Kalmer uses his acute senses to check for traps, clues or signs of recent activity. He whispers to T'Skar that she should try and work out what sort of magic, if any, is at work here. He also tells Mandrake that he should take very careful note of the route they are taking. Malchik
You continue down the stairs to level 4. The air is barely above freezing point making your breath steamy. There are no traps on the stairs but Kalmer can sense that your arrival has not gone undetected. That ripple in the magic earlier has alerted whatever exists in this icy place and they are waiting to see what you will do. The sense of a lurking presence comes from further down but before the bottom level. Either first or ground floors or on the first basement level is Kalmers sense. Nothing is moving on the stairs as you decide whether to descend to level three.'
phawk69
T'skar probes the area with her mind magic to see if what is waiting is hostile or not, or if it is living or not.
Malchik
T'skar cannot establish anything other than there is more than one something. She thinks maybe four or five but they are using powerful magical shields. They do not appear to be actively hostile.
phawk69
T'skar shields the group from the cold with her mind magic as they continue to decend. I wonder why they spend their time here, especially when there's a party next door? She ponders.
Malchik
You reach level two. (OOC> in the UK level 1 is NOT the ground floor). By now you know there are 6 somethings waiting at the ground floor level. They are invisible. As they make no attempt to come up, you continue to level one. It is now so cold that not even t'skar can prevent you all shivering. Nothing is to be gained from holding back but does anyone intend to try any magic before you reach these 'things'? karkarinus
"We must proceed cautiously," Says Kalmer quietly. "But these entities know we are here, so we must show them that we mean no harm. Sheathe and conceal your weapons, move steadily and without sudden movements." Kalmer straightens up from his 'sneaking' position, and walks with his arms by his side, palms turned forwards in the diplomatic manner of his people, so as to imply non-hostility when meeting strangers. Kalmer is used to sudden changes in climate and temperature, but there is something different about this cold. An overwhelming feeling of pity and sorrow comes over him, as if this were the very chill of death.....
