"Kyrika, It will be my pleasure to instruct you with you new blade and as far as I know there is nothing else hindering our return to the others before we depart for Dohoti. However, I think it would be better not to dleay our journey any more than we have to and perhaps I should teach en route to Dohoti."

OOC> I have already posted a bit about Dohoti.

You arrive at the dockside. The sky is cloudless; the sea as still as a millpond. The dock is lively and could be any shore town until you notice that the only people about are the sailors and port officials. There are no shops or taverns. The only other building is a plain ochre box-like structure with a domed roof that has to be the Jade Temple.

What you take at first to be a cliff the height of some 40 storeys is actually the town wall. Standing beneath it is distinctly unnerving. The black winching tower seems grotesquely elongated but that is the only way up to the city proper.

It is mid morning so there is ample time to find lodging and visit the temple or equally to visit the temple first and then seek lodging.

The choice is yours.

OOC: Sorry for my absence, was on a retreat to rediscover God and myself. Did Khyros make any money while doing his street musician thing?

Still fresh from the journey, Khyros looks up at the tower and the massive city walls. "Wow, it would take quite some time to get up to the city from here," he says to the group, "let alone coming back down. This is just my opinion, but I think we should explore the temple first while we're down here. After all, there's really not much more we can do to prepare for it, so why not do it now? Besides, I'm eager to see what new surprises are in store for us. I might just write a book about this!" Looking back to their boat, he continues to unload his gear and checks to ensure that he hasn't forgotten anything.

OOC> Dont let the thread die.... I really like this RPG....

On the voyage, Aldhelm uses the time to teach Kyrika the basics until she is quite proficient with her dagger before beginning to show her the more advanced techniques with the blade. He has made several appartuses with ropes and spars for allowing Kyrika to attack these "dummies" in training, using rope with pieces of wood attached as the attacker's arms. ( OOC> Malchik, I didnt know if there was going to be some sort of system for determining proficiency so I left it open to you.)

" I agree with Khyros that we should explore the temple while we are here and also while the sandstorms have subsided. The storms should not be too bad for a desert nomad like me but I have heard they are quite fierce. So I suggest we make the most of this "down time". Thank you. "

After saying this, Aldhelm heds belowdeck to begin collecting his inventory from the sleeping quarters. As he is packing his satchel, he makes sure to pack Kyrika's training devices, in case they might come in handy later.

"I shall be glad to go wherever you wish - just let us get away from here" Chucahau replies after he has observed the surroundings. Then he turns towards the sea and watches the waves clash against the mole; apparently he is not planning to argue much about where to go next, but will simply follow.

The Jade Temple is a small square building on the outside but actually contains two circular walls both pierced by regular arches. The arches are offset so that the light is dimmer as you move in. The centre of the temple contains an idol so swathed in what appear to be bandages you can only make out the eyes that are a vivid green. The idol is on a pedestal and careful examination reveals that the pedestal has a door in the back. Unfortunately the whole thing is encased within a gold coloured metal grille which also has a door. It is securely locked. There is no one in the temple that you can see. The lock will not prove difficult to a moderately professional thief. (Or you could try to find out who will give permission to let you in.)

You know that the temple follows the traditional pattern with three levels.

OOC - Had a job getting onto the net last week. Will try harder this week.

As Aldhelm approaches the secure temple doors, he quickly realizes that they are locked.

Obviously, they were going to have to find someone who could unlock it.

"I am going to see what I can find as far as a means to unlock it around the temple. I suggest that you stay here. The disappearance of the temple people may suggest a sandstorm is coming and you need as much protection as you can get. "

Pulling his face protection from out of his satchel, he covers his nose and mouth with the gauzy material before heading outside the temple to have a look around.

There is nothing outside the temple to help you. Everything administrative has to be dealt with in the upper town. It seems to be a question of break in now or come back later.

Returning to the others, Aldhelm quickly relays the situation outside.

"So which do you want to do? Risk punishment by breaking into the temple or risk injury by attempting to travel to the city with the threat of a sandstorm?"
