Zek555
Just recently reinstalled Oblivion due to getting a new comp, which can actually run Oblivion well. Having just the original Oblivion (No Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles), I have been looking around at mods, mod lists, etc. However, there is just so much material out there that actually finding what I want is becoming an extremely daunting task, so I have a few questions for anyone who would take the time to help. Right now I have made a list of mods & utilities that I have heard good things of, but I am still in search of maybe a few more. Current List- Oblivion Mod Manager- Unofficial Oblivion Patch- Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul- Unnecessary Violence- Midas Magic- Natural Environments- Qarls Texture Pack III v1.3 I have been thinking that this is a pretty good list to start, at least for basic balancing / combat and a few environment textures. I have seen quite a few character model texture packs, some of which have been very... erm... risque to say the least. Any other suggestions? ptbptb
Just recently reinstalled Oblivion due to getting a new comp, which can actually run Oblivion well. Congratulations. You must have quite a lot of graphics memory if it can handle both Natural Environments and Qarls Texture Pack III v1.3. Here's what I've got (except I removed some that you won't want because you've got a better computer). Robert's female bodies compendium is the more sensible option, IMO. Not to say that they're not very pretty, and there is a nude option, but they don't have the ludicrously large breasts etc. of some sets. If you really want to use a mod which requires different body types then you'll just have to change.
Zek555
Hmm, been looking through the list you posted and finding quite a few mods I like the look of. :thanks: Only question is now whether Operation Optimization, which by description optimizes large textures, work with Qarls Texture Pack? Guess I could try and see what happens.
ptbptb
Only question is now whether Operation Optimization, which by description optimizes large textures, work with Qarls Texture Pack? Guess I could try and see what happens. Well Operation Optimization does meshes, not textures, so it should be OK. You probably won't need it if your graphics card is decent. Note that the order given is the order I installed in - different orders may (but not necessarily) cause problems.
Zek555
Thanks again ptbptb! I ended up picking through the mods you suggested and picking a few here and there to get started. Here is this list I ended up with so far (did a fresh install before starting again). These just seem like a good "core install" that you can't go wrong with for improving the visuals, performance, and accessibility. - Oblivion Mod Manager- Unofficial Oblivion Patch & hotfix- Oblivion Script Extender- Better Oblivion Sorting Software- Fast Exit2- Windom Earle's Oblivion Crash Prevention System- Operation Optimization- Qarls Texture Pack III v1.3- Natural Environments- Better Imperfect Water- Map Marker Overhaul- BTmod- MiniMap - HUD Element Next few mods I am going to try is gonna be Midas Magic, FCOM, and Unnecessary Violence to see how those work. After I get those combat & balancing mods figured out and installed, I will probably finish up with some custom player models & armor. You were an invaluable help.
ptbptb
You were an invaluable help. Thanks. One thing, you should probably install Operation Optimization before Unofficial Oblivion Patch. The reason is that the Unofficial Oblivion Patch fixes bugs in some meshes that Operation Optimization optimizes. So for those meshes that clash UOP + OO = Optimized but buggy, OO + UOP = Not optimized and not buggy.
Zek555
I actually installed it in the order you gave, I just listed them differently cause I had them written down separated by categories.
