seanbrenner
I'm new to the geck and I need help. How do I make the ladder just a ladder and not a door?
iDisOrder
I haven't seen a mod yet where you can use a ladder except as a portal. Are you asking for just a stationary ladder or one you can actually climb? I managed to make a staircase, so if you're asking how to tilt the ladder enough to use it as a staircase, you may want to follow my post to see if I get a response on the staircase issue.here. I'm sure you can find the mesh in the BSA and use it to make a new static. You can't do all of it in the CK though, at least I don't think so. FMod
You don't have to *actually* extract the mesh however. Open the ladder object you want to make into a static, find the grayed-out text - it will say e.g. "Dungeons\Metro\Clutter\MetLadderLoad01.NIF" - and copy it. Then create a folder ...Fallout 3\Data\Meshes\Dungeons\Metro\Clutter\, create a dummy file with that name. Use something other than built-in tools to do it, like a proper file manager, so that it doesn't end up with .txt at the end. Paste the copied text into the model field for your new static.Once you're all done in GECK, before play-testing, delete the dummy file.

seanbrenner
There is one slight problem in the meshes folder there are only 2 other folders Armor and Characters and the metladderload01 isn't in either of these folders. PS this is a mod for new vegas if that info helps.
FMod
You know you can make new folders, right? So make the folders specified. Then make a dummy file - it doesn't have to contain anything - just be sure to remove it after you've made the static and before you launch the game for testing.
