How to fix black screen in Oblivion?

Hi there,

 

I'm very new to this, just got the game, and I played it for maybe 20 mins before I decided to change the video settings because the game play was jerky and slow; had to exit to make the changes, and when I went back in, the screen is just black - I can bring up the inventory menu, etc, and see the status bars at the bottom of the screen, but no scenery or other characters. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've put all the settings back to default, but the problem persists.

 

I downloaded the file from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11167, which I found in another post on this prob, but not sure what to do with it?

You have to extract the file you downladed and place the files to your oblivion data folder. Then activate the esp by opening Oblivion launcher the select data files and check the esp and it should work

If you change the video settings to one that either your video card or monitor do not support you could get this. The Nvidia black screen does not happen all of the time, only under specific circumstances during game play. And you must have an Nvidia graphics card.

 

You should be able to revert to default settings, and then work from there to get an acceptable graphics experience with a minimum of stuttering.
