Changing Textures of Clothing

Ok - This is my object , I want to make changes to an item that is currently active in game..

I'm new to moding in DAO so Forgive me if I'm a little lost or skatter brained.

Or even so if this is the wrong forum to ask this.

I've already gotten great help with some other issues

Now i'm looking to move from Item Moding to Texture

I know I can't effect 3D Models at the moment

However , I've seen many a re-vamp of clothes/robes and armour.

I'm looking to do the same with some subtle changes hoping to over-write the "Robes of Possession" already equipped on Morrigan.

So , My objective is to Firstly ;

Find the Files I'm looking for.. (the first one I want to play with is the "Nobel B" dress found under the "Item Variation" Menu in the Toolset when editing a robe)

Perhaps even a solid tutorial on how to do what it is I want to do

And any safety measures recommended to take?

Secondly ;

Learn how to edit the file (I have Photoshop and have been a user of it since Photoshop 7) and make changes to it

Remove parts of it , add parts too it What are my limitations etc...

Thirdly ;

How to pack and import the files in the game to over-ride an already active texture..

Namely Robes of Possession or Nobel B

Lastly ;

What else can I effect in this way.. What are my total overall limitations on textures that can be altered without Corrupting the Core or Save Game Files

thanks to anyone and everyone who helps

edit:

This isn't restricted to someone helping me

IF anyone can point out a place that Has a Decent Walk-through for this

I'll gladly take the time to read

I just can't seem to find one for the life of me after Hours of googling

First you can affect 3D models, i've successfully placed Frostmourne and other custom weapons/shields into the game and had a playthrough without any issue whatsoever.

Secondly if you want to just replace a texture (assuming you know how to texture) its really not that hard.

I suggest getting tazpn's command line tools and using them to extract the textures from the core game files. There's a walkthrough there about extracting textures/mmh/msh/mao files: http://social.bioware.com/project/218/.

To install them isn't that hard either if you dont mind replacing the default robe textures, you simply place your editing textures into the core->package->override folder

As for editing models? I'm not to sure when it comes to skinned meshes, i've managed to skin a few, but for the life of me i cannot get tazpn's to export it correctly, and that goes with just exporting the default models as well.

Texturing right now shouldn't be a trouble.

Much Obliged

I was reading around and Was told that Modelling is out of the question for now

Happy to hear that was wrong.

I've done molding on games like oblivion and Diablo. I'm willing to take the time to learn

Much Obliged for the help
