NomadDarmadeus
This is driving me insane, MMM keeps on crashing to desktop when I pass through a bridge (Below for screenshots). I've narrowed it down from my mod list and can someone PLEASE help me. I've spent the past 3 hours troubleshooting and its still crashing. What happens is that with MMM activated, the game would crash the bridge below / sewers. It would crash when I pass thru the bridge. can someone please help me? It used to not crash but now Fallout 3 crashing like a little girlie The Bridge of Doom - Game crashes whenever I pass thru ithttp://gs169.photobucket.com/groups/u240/M2R3GD0YO6/Fallout3-BridgeofDoom.jpg The Bridge of Doom - Closeup [NOTE THE BLUE HIGHLIGHT]http://gs169.photobucket.com/groups/u240/M2R3GD0YO6/Fallout3-BridgeofDoomSeweroftheDamn.jpgSewer of The Damned - There used to be a whole group of ghouls here. aerialz
I would recommend downloading FO3Edit: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637 and check if there are any conflicts in your game. I dont think the bridge itself is the problem here, as you can see there is usually a scavenger with his dog camping there, probably causing some sort of conflict within MMM which crashes the game. mechine
Yes an no. FO3edit is great, but it's also tricky, when you first start anyway. Hence webasized FO3edit by CSB http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9616 Don't forget to thank CSB, as the first draft of the FO3edit tutorial was like 200 pages long. Merge patch, an master update is what you should start with, the main tools which give the long game time. Mod load order report! Warning: current load order template contains 13 duplicate entries Ignore this, I reckon, I never use it. Second, I don't know what you noobs use to paste in load orders on the nexus forum, but if you open FOMM and right click the load order somewhere you can just copy load order to clip board, an then paste that simple text in which in the case of mods that are turnned off, it doesn' t copy them, an people like me don't have to sift thru the stuff which isn't currently applicable or whatever. MMM isn't the problem, what's happening is MMM-natural selection is causing the NPC's to fight, which works great but it taxes the system, as well as put a lot of coruptish like data inside the cell buffer Stuff like Npc's that should be dead, but are not, which yeah they are dead in game, but as far as the lists of current cell npc's, the system maybe still thinks they are not dead Idk, but fallout wasn't designed to have something like natural selection running Mind you it's not a problem with fallout 3, or even a problem with MMM, MMM is clean an perfect even the natural selection, but was the game engine meant to do that, probably not hence coruptish data in the cell buffer... You can see it if you like, go around an from time to time enter the console command prompt via pressing ~ then type PCB which purges the cell buffer PCB is kind of dangerous though, sometimes it will purge other times it won't, sometimes it will automatic purge when you fast travel other times not, Then if your game has gone full out corupt, a PCB will almost certianly cause a crash, but then your game was crashing anyway, so it's not a big deal. But that's why it may seem dangerous The PCB thing is also a performance issue, if the cell buffer is loaded down with data, then there is less system resources left for rendering. I don't really think this is your root problem though. I think the root problem is you don't really know enough about this kind of thing yet. So just keep working on learning more stuff, you'll get there. We're all still learning, heck half the time I tell people the wrong thing. whoops... Anyhowz, here's a sort of short start up I wrote last week... Update grapics card drivers to current from the company that made it Install to C:bethesda not C:/program files/bethesda Patch to 1.7 install GECK GECK update FOMM FOSE FO3edit Defrag the hard drive Fallout is 6Gb vanilla like up to 20Gb modded And you know post update, block GFWL from the internet via the firewall, if you want Once it's all installed, you want to launch fallout 3 Via FOMM Which FOMM will launch FOSE if it detects it Congrads you no longer need the disc to be in the drive, an GFWL won't launch anymore Now that it will launch, use the fallout default launcher (yeah need the disc for that one) You're just changing the settings for grapics with the default launcher from now on Something you'll probably want is to turn AA an AF off (perfromance) then open your Grapics card driver Force AA via the setting override any application setting then pick whatever AA an AF you want, you can pick higher settings this way which won't hurt perfromance, I run around on SLI 32XQ without a drop in FPS But it's higher quality AA an AF anyway, it's opposiste from every other game so this only works on Fallout 3 Read the tweek guide, the whole thing an make good choices depending on your system Also look in Nexus for pinned threads, as it's the best guide http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html The tweek guide it deals with the default launcher grapics settings, and also the fallout.ini files located in mydocuments/games/fallout3 (notepad files) Now that you have fallout 3 tweeked to hell an back You use the RAOTW method (random A**hole of the wastes) create a player, an go run around in the wasteland starting S**T an trying to make the game crash, or stutter, you want it to be really smooth with only a small amount of FPS stutter, also a good time to reduce any mouse lag if there is any. Normal patched Fallout 3 will crash or CTD sometimes, but it shouldn't happen a whole lot. Once you figure out whatever it is you needed to figure out in order to get it to run smooth Install the DLC's (yeah they are totally worth it) They load first after the fallout3.esm from now on Make another RAOTW an go run around try to make it crash again. Download mods, a poop ton of whatever you want. Bear in mind the more simple it is, the better it will run until you learn how to fix a 250 mod load order If you want a whole lot of game time with little problems then you need to get simple stuff that doesn't conflict or just a small amount of mods, to start with maybe 50 or so, but that many you'll need to use FO3edit to resolve any problems Which there's a new tutorial which was webensized from the old tutorial of FO3edit (the old one was 200 pages) the new one is interactive, an you can work your way thru it as you are doing things to fix your load order http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9616 be sure to thank CSB Now it's not that easy, you have to learn how to install mods, which can be tricky when you start there's a pinned topic on the subject, and it's located in this tech support forum I think, but yeah you'll want to read that, as well as any read me's you come across, one thing that will help is ignore an mention of archive invaildiation (which is now invalidated) FOMM has a built in Archive invaildation invalidated, which you toggle on an apply with a button an to my knowlege you only have to do it once. Okay so you've done this ton of work. Now start a real game, not a RAOTW, GET thru the first part, when you get out into the wasteland You'll want to not move for a bit and let all the scripts or DLC's start up Once the system catches up, you'll probably want to go find a small CELL which is just a word for inside room, small cell with no npc's in it then, you'll want to either wait 4 days so MMM can start up or change the settings for your mods that use FOSE, like ingame options for mods maybe even ~showracemenu an go over your charicter again, ~ is the console it's above the left tab, you bring it up an give commands to the game engine you might want to ~TFC which will let you fly the camera around an check out your charicter Later on you might want to ~PCB which will purge the cell buffer, corupt data can get into the cell buffer with all the crazy stuff we can do with mods, but sometimes PCB can be dangerous an crash the system but heh the computers system cache can go corupt at any time although mostly it's after a long game You never want to quick save or auto save, disable all that autosave stuff, each time you want to press ESC which pauses the game, then create new save, which creates a full save, not a partial save like the others. Save games can go corupt, an can be going corupt for up to an hour before you actually crash, which means they can be locked into save games, where next time you load that save, it's already corupt, locked in the only thing you can do is roll back to the privious save, until it's gone, which is why you never delete any of your save games until you are ready to delete them all. Also never remove or add a mod in the load order or even change the load order until you are ready to delete all your save games an start over... I played vanilla fallout without any mods, and without even any patches for about 3 months an I didn't have many problems I had issues, but just like other games, once I started using mods the problems happened more, but we have come a long way something like 95% of the crashes are gone now thanks to everyone's hard work, but you have to learn a whole lot an do a lot of work yourself to get there, and to get the long games. aerialz
I can't believe I read through all of this: Second, I don't know what you noobs use to paste in load orders on the nexus forum, but if you open FOMM - calling him a noob doesnt help him with his problem, it's only an insult to him. I think the root problem is you don't really know enough about this kind of thing yet.- again how does that solve his problem? How do you know he doesn't know "this kind of thing" yet? We're all still learning, heck half the time I tell people the wrong thing. whoops...- so theres at least a 50/50 chance your advices are correct? might as well just throw a coin then. Now to your "Guide" Update grapics card drivers to current from the company that made it-useful advice, but again has nothing to do with his problem though. Install to C:bethesda not C:/program files/bethesda- you can install the game to wherever you want. You use the RAOTW method (random A**hole of the wastes)- If you think making up random useless abbreviations makes you awesome you are wrong.Btw, you don't tell anyone what to do with their game, let alone what "method" to use. which pauses the game, then create new save, which creates a full save, not a partial save like the others.-what is a partial save? Save games can go corupt, an can be going corupt for up to an hour before you actually crash, which means they can be locked into save games, where next time you load that save, it's already corupt, locked in the only thing you can do is roll back to the privious save, until it's gone, which is why you never delete any of your save games until you are ready to delete them all.- are you seriously telling him to delete all the saves when only one is corrupt? the only thing you can do is roll back to the privious save, until it's gone, which is why you never delete any of your save games-sense. This makes none. Bollocks I say!- this is what I thought after reading through your post and "guide" which made my eyes bleed because of the gazillion unnecessary paragraphs you used to separate your text. I`m not going into all the countless grammatical errors - I´m this lazy.
Zumbs
Second, I don't know what you noobs use to paste in load orders on the nexus forumIt looks like he used BOSS-F or FOMMs auto load order tool. No reason to call OP a noob for that. But to OP, please do as mechine specified to post your load order. It is immensly more readable that way - BOSS-F is still very much a work in progress.
