I don't see why not, providing you install it into the external hard drive instead of copying it there. However if you want to move the external hard drive between computers that is a different (and much harder) problem. Save game files, .ini files, registry info, etc. are all stored away from the Oblivion game folder (the one with Oblivion.exe in it) and probably can not be easily moved onto an external drive. Satoshi_Yuki
I have no intention of Moving the harddrive Its just id prefer not installing it onto my default harddrive to safe space that the game and mods would normally take up

Is the external hard drive connected by a USB connection? You might have trouble if so. If it's a SCSI connection or something suitably fast you should be OK. If you haven't bought the External hard drive then I advise: 1. Ask hard questions about how fast disk access is on the external drive compared to internal drive. 2. Consider getting a bigger internal hard disk instead. It will depend on how your computer is set up but generally transferring your OS from a small hard disk to a large hard disk is a relatively painless process (if you know what you're doing). SceneGG
It would probably be better, cheaper and faster getting a second internal drive, and dedicate it to your Oblivion install & mods. EDIT: beaten by ptbtpb
Qwaxalot
Unless the external drive is an Esata or scsi drive, performance will be terrible. As said before, a bigger or second internal drive (at least 7200 RPM) is the way to go.
vandalmuffin
I'm running oblivion off my 250GB WD external with no issue. :whistling: Just can't figure out how to get my mods to work >.< (but that's beside the point. It is quite easily possible and works fine)
