Can someone explain my problem? !X(

Hi! I seek knowledge to resolve some kind of problem but I need a explanation because this is driving me crazy...

I'm not so good at texturing or modeling but I can understand quick and I have some basic knowledge using nifskope in this way I can modify mods for my personal usage.

The problem is this or the question: For example I have the mod HGEC Female Body with the default body texture (textures/characters/imperial/female/footfemale.dds or something like this)

... Well I don't like that all the armors or almost all released for this mod are less material and more skin, I'm a classic armor player :). When I get a armor mod for HGEC I want to modify the skin texture with an chainmail skin. I open nifskope and change the body skin with a chainmail skin let's say for example well the texture is updating in nifskope, I save the model, new or overwrite the existing model, but when I enter oblivion the armor is automatically loading the normal skin, so the modification made by me in nifskope was in vain... WHY???? ~X(

Well this is the armor in nifscope with the body skin modified you can see the chaimail texture, but when i enter and test it in oblivion world/game the body is ignoring that chainmail skin and is loading the normal skin even if I changed that in nifskope. I tried several processes like changing the default folder or the name of the femalefoot.dds texture. Was in vain the model is still loading the default skin is like is programmed to load the normal skin of the player even that above is a armor...

I have to add that I don't have the .bsa textures or models of Oblivion, I've opened the with .bsa editor so it's only a texture of a kind in my game, another source of textures I do't have....

 

I'm sorry about my mistakes in english in my speach but is not my native language.

I'm sorry about the size of explanations but I want to be sure that I've explained all...

I hope that someone can explain to me why Is not loading the textures in oblivion but in nifskope is...

Um Im not 100% sure but I think it has to do with the material. In nifscope you can find a property called '' MaterialProperty'' or similar and it should have the name ''skin'' , I think when you name your material skin Oblivion loads your custom skin palette which is created when you create a character and overwrite or blend itself with the base texture of the model.

 

So in order to get the result you want I would've done like this: created a new texture with the name '' mychainbody.dds.'' & '' mychainbody_n.dds.'' and put them in a different folder and then loaded up nifscope and change the texture path to my chain body texture and renamed/changed the material property to '' Material#101 '' .

 

Hope that will fix that.

Man I'm Glad That YOU WARE BORN!!!! You're right that was the problem... The material property name... I'd give you a drink if you ware in my country :)
