RideTheCatfish
I know I've been bouncing around with mod ideas for awhile, but this idea seems rather practical. Washington DC is a huge metropolitan area, and probably was home to several million citizens before the war. That being said, it'd only seem logical that there'd be more than one Super Duper Mart in the area. I'm interested in adding a second one, but where woud be the best place to put it? Obviously along some major road system, near some urban ruin or another. Canterbury Commons, maybe? Big Town? Old Olney?
Cipscis
Wouldn't it make more sense to have it somewhere in DC? I think it's a good idea - it definitely makes sense and the assets are already there. Cipscis
RideTheCatfish
Well, I figure the default one is just on the outskirts, and I never really see major super markets smack in the middle of a metro area. It might be possible, however, to built one into some of the abandoned, empty buildings in the metro area. A mini-mart or even a full-fledged one. Cipscis
Yeah, I suppose I'm forgetting that the wasteland wasn't always a wasteland. There are a few areas already that have clusters of shops nearby larger settlements, after all. Perhaps a Super Duper Mart near a larger populated area could have been set up to store and sell food and supplies. If it was near Canterbury Commons then it could be used as a warehouse for the caravans. Cipscis
Ferlith
Canterbury Commons would be a logical place for one, and I like the warehouse idea. Downtown DC is pretty feasible--I would suggest L'Enfant Plaza, there's not really much else there. Old Olney could work, too, although I think an Old Olney Grocery is referenced somewhere (Nuka-Cola Quantum shipping manifest, maybe). It'd probably look pretty similar to a Super-Duper Mart, though. Alternately, you could put it near the ruins around Tenpenny Tower and Warrington Station, or near the ruins of Bethesda or Fairfax. I suppose it mostly depends on what you want to do with it--where it's at will play a major part in determining what it's used for. Warehouse, raider camp, deathclaw nest... RideTheCatfish
As we speak, I'm working on one near Canterbury. I did have a few ideas in mind for it, namely something related to the caravans, but I need to have some sort of danger nearby, or it's no fun. I was thinking so more about it, and I almost think that a second additional Super Duper Mart would be good down there near Fairfax and Bethesda, or maybe in the area of Andale and a few of those other towns and important landmarks (Nuka Cola Plant, Red Racer Factory, etc).
