Arturiousrye
OK, so I am trying to get Unnecessary Violence and DMC Stylish to work. I OMODed everything and have the OBSE file in my Data with the plugins like I should but yet the damned thing will not start. Thing is, this is my 5th attempt in the past 3 days to get it to work. I have had to uninstall and re-install all 5 times and all 5 times it works before I begin to mod. I think it might be the unofficial patches causing it but I am not sure. I am frustrated and just don't know what to do. When the game goes to load, it never even reaches the Bethesda starting screen. Just as it is about to start, the whole thing shuts down. Help me please before I go insane!?!
ptbptb
I have had to uninstall and re-install all 5 times and all 5 times it works before I begin to mod. Copy the Data directory to a backup before you add any mods but after you update it to 1.2.0416. Usually you can avoid uninstall/re-install and instead just delete modded Data and copy backup Data into its place. I think it might be the unofficial patches causing it but I am not sure. I had semi-random crashes that appeared to be related to the Unofficial Oblivion patches. They stopped after I deactivated/re-activated the unofficial patches (while leaving other mods in place) and I after I stopped using <alt><tab> to switch from Oblivion. I don't know which thing stopped the crashes, but it's worth trying both. Yesterday I caught Windom Earle's Oblivion Crash Prevention System preventing a crash for the first time. (It was when I was saving inside a modded building) If you haven't got it it's worth installing. Finally, maybe you could give some more detail on where, when and how it crashes. bben46
Here is a link to Bben's Crash Helphttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=298. OMODs are not the problem. Any OMOD can be completely removed without reinstalling. Almost any other mod can too, but you have to dig into the texture and mesh folders to find all of the parts. A clean - unmodified (Vanilla) data folder should look like this Contents of a clean install \data folder Music (folder)Shaders (folder)Video (folder)Credits (text) Oblivion - Meshes.bsaOblivion - Misc.bsaOblivion - Sounds.bsaOblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsaOblivion - Voices1.bsaOblivion - voices2.bsaOblivion.esm Note that there are NO Texture or Mesh folders at all, as all vanilla meshes and textures are in the BSA folders.Any official Bethesda patches will not show, as they are actually incorporated into the existing Oblivion.esm and the Oblivion BSA folders. Which mods do not change. The next time you reinstall, make a copy of the data folder, it should be copied after installing the Bethesda patch, and before installing any mods, OBSE, OBMM, or anything else. Then - instead of reinstalling, you can rename your existing data folder (saving all of your mods) to get it out of the way. then CREATE a new data folder, and COPY the contents of the saved vanilla data folder above into it. DO NOT just rename it, or move it. as you want to keep the original unchanged for future problems. This can save a lot of time and frustration.
