Questdog
The grass used to sway in the breeze, but now it just sits there. What could I have done to turn this off and what can I do to get it back?

What could I have done to turn this off and what can I do to get it back? I have no idea. But it would probably help to post a list of the mods you have installed and their load order.http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=305 <- right link?? Qwaxalot
I,m not sure what you did either, howver it seems likely that you or a mod borked the Oblivion.ini file. This is what the grass section looks like in an unmodded game: [Grass]iMinGrassSize=80fGrassEndDistance=3000.0000fGrassStartFadeDistance=2000.0000bGrassPointLighting=0bDrawShaderGrass=1iGrassDensityEvalSize=2iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=2fWaveOffsetRange=1.7500fGrassWindMagnitudeMax=125.0000fGrassWindMagnitudeMin=5.0000fTexturePctThreshold=0.3000 Check out your .ini file

SOME of the grasses DO move VERY slightly upon closer inspection......
Questdog
I have found that setting timescale back to 30 solves the problem (was at 1)......but why does timescale affect this?
Questdog
Why is grass affected by timescale, when nothing else seems to be? I tried raising the wind variables (x30) and this worked to get the grass swaying like it was in a breeze, but made it all lay down and stretch like it was in a hurricane!!! DuchessGummybuns
I have a similar problem, but only for a garden I modded my self. All I did was add a couple purple heather. Any Ideas on a fix, guys?
DrakeTheDragon
Wow, what a necro post! Back from 2009? Anyways, "timescale" affects just about everything in the game, as it is the rate at which time progresses and conditions change. It determines the day-night cycle, skydome rotation and weather patterns. The last one being the explanation here. The grass in Oblivion doesn't 'always' sway. It depends on the wind speed and the current weather how much and how fast it sways. If you said there's a heavy thunderstorm, all trees swaying like crazy, and the grass still not moving at all, that'd be an issue. But if it's just barely swaying, maybe there's just a gentle breeze of wind around currently? With a rapid change in weather pattern of course the wind speed and direction also changes rapidly. "timescale" "30" is 30-times as fast as real-time, after all. And even if it's only gentle breezes most of the time, their direction switching around like crazy due to timescale 30 will of course make the grass sway appear more lifely. @DuchessGummybuns: First make sure this purple heather even is a grass type that can sway to begin with. Then check the weather type currently going in your garden space, if it even is a windy one. Maybe try to force a thunderstorm via "ForceWeather", or what's it called, through console. I'll have to read up the right weather code for a thunderstorm though, but it can be found in WiKis and tutorials out there somewhere.
DuchessGummybuns
LOL Omg, I didn't see the time stamp. LMAO I just googled my problem. What can I say? It's more entertaining than Necromancing in oblivion, in my opinion. What a cheesy system it has. Well, I defiantly know it's sway-able. I found a lovely little vanilla grove FILLED to the brim with it, & I also added the other heathers and grasses for testing this very idea. In the CS they looked so opaque I could hardly see them. I thought this might be related to "Solidify subspaces" & so I looked for a similar command. I turned on all environmental options to no avail. I decided to check in game. It was less opaque, but still opaque & the trees around it were swaying. It was raining at the time.
