Modding Planes of Oblivion

Hey,

This topic is about the modding the Planes of Oblivion which are mainly entered through oblivion gates.

I like too create a mod that will modify the amount of possible oblivion worlds/planes. Of course I don't want too get far too find out it won't work, so I think its best too start here and ask a few questions.

I got a few questions about this topic;

1) Is the random 7 oblivion planes the max?

2) If its not the max then will just adding extra planes with numerically increasing numbers be used automatically?

3) Are there any special scripts involving oblivion planes I should know about?

I appreciate anyone aiding too the discussion. :thanks:

Here is a tutorial on making an Oblivion worldspace: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index..._Space_Tutorial

I think when I read the tutorial it said you could have more than 7 random planes.

If I understand the randomization process correctly, the planes you add will have the same chance of being used as the others on the list and as long as you get them on the list, it will be automatic after that.

The eight interwoven scripts involving sigil stones and the light shows are incredibly difficult and there is no documentation. The scripts defeated me when I was making the mods Oblivion Gate and Caldera Update which each include an Oblivion gate. I had to make my own scripts or workarounds. A wiser scripter and than I could probably break the codes and figure it out.

The door scripts will also throw you a loop. They aren't like ordinary doors.

If you mess things up too badly, you can ruin all the Oblivion gates in Cyrodiil. (Been there, done that.) You can get things like Oblivion gates you can't enter, Oblivion gates that stay open with no sigil stone, Sigil stones that do not close the gates, and perhaps increased frequency of the Sigil Whiteout Weather bug.

But I would say what you want to do is possible and I want to download and play it when you are done.

Well, this will be my first time modding in oblivion so it might take awhile.

All I've done so far was turned it on, loaded up the main .esm and took a look at the oblivion world space. It take awhile before I actually get something uploaded, but if I do I'll probably post a link too the tesnexus download.

Thanks for contributing David.
