Replacing every instance of a certain item with another

I was wondering if it is possible to replace every instance of an item using the CS (or not) in the game with a different item, both in the leveled lists and in specifically placed instances.

Such as:

IronBoots = BlackwoodBoots

Where iron is the original and all iron boots in oblivion are now Blackwood boots

any help will be much appreciated.

Only placed instances can be automatically replaced with a different object. Objects in containers, inventories, and leveled lists would need to be replaced manually.

If you aren't too interested in keeping the iron boots themselves in game, you could always just edit the vanilla forms related with iron boots, link them to a new mesh, icon, and change their properties. Although this may not have the best results, it will work in every instance that item is used.

i had considered this aprotch, but there are several hundred items i need to replace with there counterparts, so this would be a very long and tedious process. If this is the only way i supose i should get to it then XD

thank you for the answere regardless.
