krungle
I am a total noob. I don't even know how to start. I have downloaded Blender because it seems to do what I want it to do. What I want to do for a first project is to edit the mage robes so they are sexier, removing some of the material, adding some other places and making some translucent. Nothing adult, really. I read some of the so-called tutorials but they are confusing because I am not even on the learning curve yet. I figure if I can figure out how to get robe models from the game into the Blender program and back into a .dds file for placement in the override folder. Once the file is in the Blender program I think I can figure out how to modify it there but I can't even locate a mage robe to move to the other program much less how to move it. As I said, my knowledge is not even on the learning curve so if you start by assuming I know nothing you are right. I tried the DAToolset but it looks like it more to set up new dungeons and towns and stuff than to actually modify clothing models. Anyway I would like to learn how to use Blender. I also know nothing about scripting so that thing that is supposed to convert stuff into usable Blender format inside of blender using script is also useless to me. I don't mind extracting stuff to a folder, using a program to convert it to a Blender usable format, saving that to another folder, etc. but I need step by step instructions to do anything. The instructions for modifying stuff inside of Blender are understandable to me (mostly).

Anyone know a converter that I can use with out needing to know script?
krungle
I got a plug in so GIMP can open the file but it is flat and I can't figure out what goes where. I need to edit it in 3d if I am to see what changes I am making. That is why I think Blender would work better. Or am I going down the wrong path of thought and need to have another model to wrap it onto first? If so, what where how?
DeepImpact
DSS-Files are always flat, that´s the nature of each texture.
krungle
DSS-Files are always flat, that´s the nature of each texture. Is there a way to get it to be 3d so I can see what goes where and edit it that way? It is impossible to see when it is flat.
