Darthlvlaul
I made my own key for a house when I try to place it in the render window it says model load error not a valid NIF will use default error marker...Is this normal? I tried to search for it I cant find anything also I tried about 6 different tutorials non of them helped...I am 100% sure oblivion is installed in the right path, when I look at the official keys they all have a key.nif and key.dds assigned to them, witch says clutter/keys...but when I try to assign my key the NIF and dds It takes me to the clutter folder and all it contains is NIF files from a dif. mod i installed...I even tried to navigate to my oblivion disk I browsed the disk and it's empty just has 1 directx folder. Where can I find the default Key.dds and Key.NIF???
zprospero
This happened to me a couple of times before I realized it too. All the .nif files are stored in compressed archives, you won't be ableto just tell it to use a vanilla .nif unless you first extract that .nif and placeit under the correct folder in meshes. Fortunately, you don't need to do that since it's not a custom mesh or retexture.I'm going to assume you used 'New' when you made the key? You shouldn't. Instead you should open an existing key because it will already have thecorrect file path for the .nif linked in a way the game recognizes. Simply make a duplicate of an existing key, rename it,and when it asks you to create a new form say yes. Then your key will appear with a textured mesh in game.
