agafon
Approx. 4 times out of 10 starts I get a hard lockup after pressing Continue or Loading a file immediately after the game's start . It seems there is a higher likelyhood of that after I change video settings (especially resolution, texture size). This happens even in res 640x480 with small texture size. Ctrl-Alt-Del does not help - the cold reboot is the only remedy, often results in corrupted Oblivion's ini file.Abouth the only program I have that can hard lock Win XP Pro. dc4bs
Just a though, have you checked the bios rev and driver versions for your motherboard? Might be just that save/load in this game are realy I/O intensive. I've been having a problem with hard lockups when the game autosaved just after going through a doorway (usualy from inside to outside) I turned off "autosave on travel" and then had had only 1 lockup after 4-5 hours of smooth gameplay... I believe it might be somehow related to an I/O bus contention or driver issue for the IDE drives on my system. I have moved the game installation to one of my SATA drives to see if it locks up there. I've started teh game but only played for a few minutes since the move (wish me luck). Wow. This almost reads like an exploreres journal entry doesn't it? ;) ------EDIT: Mar 30 2006 Or perhaps not... I updated my BIOS + IDE, SATA, AGP, sound card and video card drivers to current revisions last night. Started the game and got the same lockup behavior after a while. Maybe the 4 hour+ run the other night was just luck. -dc4bs
agafon
After disabling music in ini file the problem disappeared. The rest of the sounds are just fine.
