New PC player. When creating a new game all I am seeing is a black scr

Hi, I just installed the game on my laptop and the game is not working. I am running vista and the first time I installed I ran it with firewalls on, however since the problem occurred I turned my firewall off (my solution for Morrowind back in the day) and to no avail. The screen is black except for the menu for character, status bars, weapon icon, and compass. I even tried the COC console command to a city but the same screen. Dialogue and doors are there if I hover over them, but it is a black screen. Please help.

Does your system meet the requirements to run the game?

Note that many Laptop video cards are not compatible.

Note that the recommended requirements are much higher then the minimum requirements. And that this is several years old. There have been 2 new generations of video cards since the list was made.

Obviously checking your PC's specs (memory, graphic card, etc.) and posting them here is a good next step.

 

Possibly this is related to the NVIDIA black screen problem though?
