Banana1224
* A solution to my "savegame never loads" problem with Streamline + distant lands "on":- The problem I solved... I re-installed Oblivion on a new Windows 7 install, patched, re-built it with a small and carefully-selected selection of the most stable mods. The Streamline mod was installed, mainly because it's the best option to get a stable 'distant fog effect' on distant hills/mountains (the Streamsight module) and a 85-degree FOV (from the Streamview module). BUT... I found that if 'view distant lands' is turned "on" (either via OblivionLauncher.exe, or in the game before loading a savegame) then: i) a "loading distant LODs" message flashes up just after you've started to load a savegame, and iii) the savegame then loads painfully slowly - and after ten minutes it just stops and the end and never loads. However, I found a way to trick Oblivion into loading distant lands - after the loading of a savegame. My solution... 1) Ensure that, eitther in OblivionLauncher.exe, or the game Options, distant lands / trees / buildings are all OFF before loading your savegame. Then load the savegame as usual. It should be a quick and easy load. Now you're in the game-world, go to the in-game Options menu, then go to Video options, and push the slider for 'view distance' all the way up to maximum. Now under this slider, click to say "yes" to turn on Distant Lands / Distant Trees / Distant Buildings. You should get a message saying that "next time you start Oblivion, your changes will take effect". Ignore this, and exit Options. 2) Now you're back in the game, you can press Crtl + HOME - this gets you into the Streamline interface. Select the Streamview sub-module, and increase your field of view by 5 percent. What was a sea of white fog in your game-world will instantly clear, and you should get a message that the game is loading "loading distant LODs" - and your glorious and slightly-foggy distant views will appear. Seems to be quite a stable workaround.
