Fallout: The Rejects

Cale didn't bother listening to Zephry's rant. He just stood there looking at him with a bored expression on his face. While Zephry was talking to the guy called Daniel, Cale was making all manner of juvenile faces behind Zephrys back. He chuckled and walked back over to Ath and whispered to her. "Remember what i said before we got here? I take it back." He turned to Daniel and crossed his arms. "We're no one. Just a couple of people trying to make a living. Now what about you? Still not convinced that you're not the ones that put her in that shape."

"Yeah.. I always nurture woman I abuse back to shape after I have my way with them.." Daniel smiled to the man. He noticed the woman had her eyes slowly turning to his Direction. She looked afraid. But Daniel quickly dropped his smile and adjusted himself properly as he cleared his throat.

 

"I'm kidding. I found her Out in the middle of town. I've been here for a day now and shes definitely a new face - Haven't seen her before. Must have been without food or water for days it seems.." Daniel cautiously made his way over to his 10mm pistol. it was still steaming, he smiled to the others as he picked up the weapon waving it free of smoke. Daniel cocked back the chamber several times, then aimed the thing up to look through the iron sights. Still working.. he muttered to himself softly.

 

Jack watched the group, having an off feeling about them all. Something wasn't right to him. whether it be the talking deathclaw, or the Android girl. Flesh, metal. Human, machine. he was unable to determine what they were and was baffled by the fact. He studied Zephyr for a moment, holding the mans figure in his mind. His lips curled into a half grin and he scratched at his dark brown hair, dried blood still formed on his lips he licked it.

 

"I don't trust em." Jack said. His cold gaze stayed on Zephyr.

 

"And I don't trust you." Daniel patted Jack on the shoulder. He faced the man nearing Anitha, his eyes were focused on the bloodied wound but he made eye contact after a moment. Daniel nudged his head over to Zephyr.

 

"Our charismatic friend here is right. I'm a mercenary from DC. Names Daniel. This here is Jack. So there's no need to be a stranger, among strangers" Daniel said sarcastically.

 

"SO what is it you want Zephyr? You said you had business?"

"That depends somewhat on where you're headed." Zephyr began. "If you're off towards Memphis the people who want you bound and gagged for whatever reason are there and I want them dead. They've cause enough pain and cheated my crew and I for long enough. If you're not then I'd like to travel with you for a time until you and this rag-tag band of yours near one of my old hide aways. At any rate you could always use another gun and another set of eyes, I could always use clink in my pocket. Plus travelling with a Deathclaw tends to scare the living Hell out of anyone or anything that might mess with you that's got half a brain." Zephyr said.

 

"That's strike two." Zephyr said towards Cale with animosity.

Athina kept her eyes on daniel as he picked up his gun before glancing back at Zephyr for a moment, "Death is an end to that matters lifespan and when it outlives its use it is more often than not destroyed. And if by the rare chance it is not, a being without purpose is already dead. In that sence death scares no one. Its the misconception of the matter that makes the faint of heart fear that anomaly known as death. And from that deduction dear sir none of us present here are children either and it would be to everyones best interest to not treat us as such." by this time the humming from the palm of her hand had stopped, and no glow was visible. a small smile swept her face, "And dispite the characters you have already imaged us as, know that we are not completely defenceless." she glanced back at Cale, and whispered in reply, "I can see why."

"Defenseless? Bah! Of course you're not defenseless. Why would I want to travel with you if I thought you were defenseless? I'm not a noble man I look after my own I don't offer to travel with someone because I've got an idiotic sense of duty it's because there's something to gain." Zephyr boomed with laughter. "My dear android I have not imagined any of you as defenseless. I fancy you're cyborg companion there a pompous brat who has a chip on his shoulder because of his stature who thinks he can play with the big dogs because he's got a cybernetic eye and sub-dermal armor. He might be a capable fighter but he gets no respect from me, it's something to be earned and being a presumptious imbecile isn't the way to gain any from me. None of you are defenseless but none of you are invulnerable like that one-" Here Zephyr gestured to Cale, "Fancies he is. I've met men much closer to it than he. What is he? 18 maybe? Thinks he's got the whole damned world figured out and nothing can touch him. He needs to get a dose of reality or a dose of civility quick before someone gives him a rude awakening. I've been around the block and I've got no illusions about what I can and can't do and I can kill him weather he believes it or not. He's on strike two I hope he manages to not get anymore before the next inning." Zephyr said.

Cale had had enough. Whether the girl was in trouble or not, He needed to get away now before he snapped. He walked away from the group without saying a word. He knew Ath could handle herself should antything go wrong and he also knew that she didn't need an explanation from him. He despised people that think they know anything about him as well as people that underestimate him. And Zephry had done both. After he had walked for a little while he leaned up against the side of a building and growled softly. Every inch of his body was telling him to go back there and break the guy in half, And every part of his mind was telling him to just keep walking. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on anything that kept him from going back.

"He wasn't at the bar" said Scar confused "Where could he be? Ah thats the least of my problems"

 

Scar remembers the Deathclaw looking at him almost thinking it could be allowed to coerce with humans true humans not the irradiated ghouls or monsters just thinking about it lit a flame of rage in Scar's eye

He pulls his knife and starts walking toward a bunch of tracks - a deathclaw tracks it leads to a deathclaw who is allowed to walk in a human town of all things Scar thought this wierd "look at this a deathclaw in a human town I knew the guards were bad but stupid too who would have thought Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now"

Daniel mimicked a cats growl, mocking Zephyr and the others. He laughed and shook his head after he watched the man head to the wall, sensing how he must feel towards Zephyrs remarks. After lowering his battered sidearm to his side, he let out a ghastly sigh then rubbed his chin.

 

"People in Memphis want me dead huh..? Damn.." Daniel turned to Jack n shrugged his shoulders.

 

"Who did I piss off now?" he asked. Jack just muttered something under his breath as he watched the kneeling girl continue to gorge down the purified water. He licked his blood stained lips as she did so.

 

"Well.. Im not heading to Memphis.. Lebanon.. is where I'll be going. headin there in say.." Daniel turned his eyes to the sky and pondered for a moment. "An hour or so. Caravan needs protection. If you all haven't noticed Tennessee isn't the safest place to travel. Towns not too far from here, but it would be hell to go there, caring for some Yokel who doesnt know how to protect himself.." Daniel laughed thinking about the caravaner, trying to defend himself form raiders.

 

" I can handle myself, " Daniel said with a smirk, " But Im no fool. Any extra man power - Or Android power," Daniel paused before saying. he smiled at Athina. "Would be appreciated. "

Zephyr offered his hand. "Agreed. an extra gun and set of eyes is always handy 'round here. Especially with those insane raiders." Zephyr said with a smile. Bah, that cyborg is such a hypocrite. Detests people who underestimate him and over-value themselves when he does the same damn thing. He hasn't figured out he's just as mortal as the rest of us. Zephyr thought to himself as his gaze drifted to Cale.

 

Mars stood staring into Scar's eyes, "Because if you kill me I'll make damn sure I take you to hell with me. And theres nothing to gain from killing me. The only truelly sentient Deathclaw in the world dead isn't going to help you out. You're right though the guards are complete morons. I mean really did you honestly not realize that when they let Danny in here? He's got a price on his head bigger than most people see let alone possess in a lifetime. Plus they were to idiotic to not send the entire force of guards after you when the gun shots went off. Nor send anyone to the tavern when a bunch of drunkards decided to pick a fight with an android and Zephyr as well as myself decided to teach them some manners. These guards are imbeciles we definitely agree to that. But I digress to answer you're question I'll ask my own: why bother?" Mars said elequently with a gleam of anticipation for a good challenge weather it be charismatic...or physical.

]Scar walks away angry for not killing the deathclaw

 

"Hey! deathclaw count you're self lucky not many have seen the barrel of my gun and lived to tell especially a deathclaw"

 

Scar walks towards an alley and takes out some ultrajet inhales it and passes out in the spot where he stood
