Evlesoa
Hi, Edit 3 - I have found out, while observing Oblivion in task manager, that the game must be doing something wrong that probably has nothing to do with mods (I think). I have found that when the game freezes, its CPU usage drops from about 30-40% to 0.2%. After it goes back up to 30-40%, the game unfreezes and continues as normal. Here is my load order and the mods I run (even though I strongly believe it is not my mods that are causing this): Edit 4 - It appears that using my integrated graphics card is more stable than using my dedicated. I turned on Triple Buffering with 1 prerendered frame (from default, whatever that was), and it seems to have helped a little. I can't tell fully, though. Not until I have walked around more than one area. Update: nope. Hopeless. I don't know what to do anymore. I've exhausted everything: reinstalling, running no mods, and it still does this. It's even more weird that sound keeps playing in the background as though nothing happened. I've got a CPU that can handle this game well beyond its requirements (an i5 with 8gb ram and 2gb dedi nvidia card), yet this "freezing" thing happens even in character creation. I was trying to create a character, and I noticed as I messed with certain bars, it would freeze every 3 or 4 minutes for 2-3 seconds. I don't know if it's a CPU spike or something else, but it happens no matter what. It does not crash, which means it must be pretty stable in the few hours that I played, but it's unplayable with the freezing. It interrupts everything. It doesn't matter what I'm doing: I could be sitting in a trade, in a house, and it'll freeze for a couple seconds. I could be trying to persuade a guard outside, and it'll freeze. I'm really lost here, and I don't know why it happens at these intervals. I'd hope someone can explain to me because I've got my load order without errors, played vanilla, tried various tweaks (like foot steps, stuttering reducers, etc) and nothing seems to work. It's really, really weird. Thanks in advance. Edit 1 - My freezes are similar to this: but they don't happen as often as this, there seems to be a pattern in my case or something, and it seems to always be a few minutes apart. However, this problem doesn't happen with the Fallout engine, only Oblivion. Edit 2 - Changing priority of the game or affinity while alt-tabbed out causes the game to only respond to one key: the console. And you cannot write there, it only pops up and goes away because everything else freezes. Edited May 17, 2014 by Evlesoa
