I've been thinking about getting a gaming computer...

Recommended Posts

Try find a computer with a i5 CPU instead of i7, since the i5 perform as good/better than the i7 in most games, and with a ATI 5850 or 5870 graphics card instead of a GTX 285.

The ATI 5xxx card use directX 11, while the current Nvidia cards have directX 10. Of course, there are no games that actually use dx11 yet, but most likely there will be ;) The only thing I know of yet, is the Dirt 2 demo or whatever it is, and the new Stalker benchmark.

Nvidia have some new graphics cards on the way. You might want to wait and see what kind of price and performance it has got, but I dunno when they will be available to purchase.

It sure can kick some a..

I especially like the grafic card.

Processor also OK.

But i don´t like 1TB HDD. 1 small harddisk for system+a bigger one for storage is better.

It´s more secure, and provides less time for defrag.

But all in all a nice gaming device.

Nice, though I took some time to configure a computer on Ibuypower's website, which I noticed was the brand of the first computer you linked to.

Case ( CoolerMaster HAF 922 Mid Tower Gaming Case - Black )

Processor ( Intel® Core™ i5 750 Processor (4x 2.66GHz/8MB L3 Cache) )

Memory ( 4 GB [2 GB X2] DDR3-1333 Memory Module - Corsair or Major Brand )

Video Card ( ATI Radeon HD 5850 - 1GB - Single Card )

Motherboard ( ASUS P7P55D PRO -- Intel P55 Chipset CrossFire and SLI Supported w/7.1 Sound, Dual-Channel DDR3, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, Three PCI-Ex16 MB )

Power Supply ( 650 Watt -- Corsair CMPSU-650TX Power Supply - SLI Ready )

Primary Hard Drive ( 750 GB HARD DRIVE -- 16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 3.0Gb/s - Single Drive )

Optical Drive ( 22X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive - Black )

$1243, around the same price as the first one, with Windows 7 Home premium. Seems alright to me :)

If you would need more power in the future, you could buy another 5850 run them in Crossfire (basically, all you have to do is open the case, put the graphics card in a slot, and plug in two cables).

Or if you really really don't wanna go inside the computer and screw around, then I perhaps the shop can do it for you I dunno. It will probably const a lil bit though

I know Newegg is good, but I have no idea if Ibuypower is a good company or not.

You could go with a cheaper powersupply, it's just that I couldn't see which brand the others were. I know Corsair is very good, and it's better to spend a little more money on a good power supply than buy some cheap stuff like Ace for example which will burn the computer while gaming.

Sorry if I made any mistakes now, I'm tired and need to sleep :P

I like that rig, Evandar. The only problem is, since I'm in RI and iBuyPower's in CA, I have to pay $65 shipping. Newegg, however, is much closer, so not nearly as much shipping costs. Also, while browsing Newegg, I found this beauty of a machine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16883227174

Complain all you want about AMD processors, but I've had good experiences with them. Besides, 3.4 GHz vs. 2.66 GHz... Easy choice. 5 less watts, as well.
