iXimeko
Before I explain this. I am going to say that I installed Oblivion into my own directory, have OBSE & OBMM. When I run Oblivion it just instantly crashes to desktop. I have these mods enabled: Oblivion.esmToaster says sharev3.esmKnights.espIlluminationWithin.espPJs Spells Cheap.espPJs Spells No Requirements.espCrowded Cities 15.espDLCShiveringIsles.espTSS Custom Companion Templete.espGlenvarCastle.espBlackluster2Swordstyle.espToaster says share faction recruitment.espCrowded Roads Advance.espMidasSpells.espDMC Stylish Special anims.espNatural Weather HDR w/ darker nights.espNatural Vegetation.espNatural Habitat.espBrighter Torches.espDark Beast Clothes.espApachii Goddess Store.espMidasMagicCompanion.espTiefing Races.espTNR ALL RACES.espTNR Shivering Isle.esp Honestly. I just don't know what the hell is wrong. I merely am still downloading mods but wanted to test to see if all these worked together (yet clearly they dont). It could be that I am a newcomer when it comes to modding Oblivion.. wait. Scratch that. A newcomer to using mods for Oblivion. PLEASE help. :/
Aria C
Well just off the bat I see problems, your load order is no good. Being new you are going to want to get BOSS search for it here. Also I believe that you may possibly be using mods that require aditional mods to work properly. Be sure to read those read me files and get each abnd everything that you need, in the read me it will state the mods requirements and sometimes where the mod needs to placed in your load order. To use boss you just drop the files into your oblivion data folder and double click it it will set up a load order for you to use, it helps to have wyre bash but I believe that obmm may do as well. The load order that boss gives you may still have to be modified depending on exactly what the mods requirements are, for example boss places the deadly reflex mods I use in a spot in my load order that is no good so I have to manually move them. Your probably going to need to move a few too. anyway I have never used alot of the mods that you are using, so I cannot garuntee that will work but you may want to try out this load order. Oblivion.esmToaster says sharev3.esmDLCShiveringIsles.espKnights.espToaster says share faction recruitment.espTSS Custom Companion Templete.espApachii Goddess Store.espDark Beast Clothes.espBlackluster2Swordstyle.espGlenvarCastle.espDMC Stylish Special anims.espIlluminationWithin.espPJs Spells Cheap.espPJs Spells No Requirements.espMidasSpells.espMidasMagicCompanion.espTiefing Races.espNatural Weather HDR w/ darker nights.espNatural Vegetation.espNatural Habitat.espBrighter Torches.espTNR ALL RACES.espTNR Shivering Isle.espCrowded Roads Advance.espCrowded Cities 15.esp You may need to move the knights esp to the bottom and or move the crowded esps up under the shiveringisles esp but other then that this is my best suggestion with what info I have
Ranokoa
I think it is called BOSS, that can help you get the correct load order. I might be wrong, but if I am not then I suggest looking into tesnexus and search BOSS.
grmblf
Make sure you have your Oblivion patched to the latest version (1.02.416 IIRC), install all the Unofficial Oblivion patches as well if you don't have them and check if some of the mods you use require OBlivion Script Extender (OBSE), Pluggy or some other non-mod stuff. Most mods simply won't work without them. And then let me give you and advice. Three things you have to consider before installing a mod: requirements, load order and compatibility. If you ever download a mod that doesn't have a readme or one wich readme doesn't contain this information then better not to install it. good luck! theuseless
Yes, download the following files: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516 Follow the directions included with the wrye bash, including installing the python programs. Make sure that you install the BOSS program properly. In wrye bash, you will see a little icon if all is installed correctly. Click on the little BOSS icon and it will give you a list of proper load order. If you have 'lock times' disabled, it will place them automatically for you. there is a BOSS load list that is HTML-ized for your convenience if you wish to search for it. If you use the wrye bash, click the little box that says OBSE to launch oblivion properly with OBSE. If you aren't launching with the OBSE launcher, you will have problems such as ctd's. If this isn't sufficient, I can post links to tutorials or you can search for them here on the nexus or the oblivion wiki. Some stuff isn't explained clearly to beginners, but you should be able to play at your whim with the BOSS (better oblivion sorting software). Here is a load order recommendation by Dev_akm Oblivion.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch<Weather/Environment/Sound Mods><Minor Mods/New Items/Houses/DLC's (Post-Completion)><Major Overhaul Mods><Mods that specifically conflict with overhauls and need to take precedence><DLC's (Pre-Completion)><Quests><Compatibility Patches/UOMP/Merged Leveled Lists> Basically, fit all your mods into categories and make the categories read in the order of the list, oblivion.esm at the top and all the weapons, armor, houses and physical item mods in the middle, then overhauls like OOO, then all the other stuff like Reneer's Guard Overhaul or quests. Just make sure to load a patch directly after (underneath) the mod that it fixes. For a good example of mod dependencies, check out the armentarium here:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18417 This is a huge weapons/armour mod and should be loaded somewhat early in the load order. It lists a dependent file in the readme found here:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25309 You must also download and install both files from the main site, following the instructions provided in the readmes. It realy isn't that difficult and you will have installed your first large weapons/armor mod. After that you will know how to install an update mod like castle seaview:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25574 Castle Seaview requires you to download the original file, then update it with the version 1.1 fix. It is a simple process that will give you a cool castle with a little plot to obtain it. You want to load this mod after the Armamentarium mod and other houses, but before any large scale quest mods, then something like the renguard or cosmetic compilation, found here respectively:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5977http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7531 Note that all these files require the latest patch (or at least the shivering isles 1.20404 patch, but the UOP 3.2 works well). The latest unofficial official patch is found here:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 theuseless
bben46
All good advice. However, I think your biggest problem was installing a bunch of mods without testing each one. Install ONE at a time. test to be sure it works before adding another one. The time you think you will save will be more than lost in trying to figure out which mod caused the problem. If you do install one at a time, your load order will be built as you go. Many mods will not work without the latest patch. The unofficial patches fix a lot of little bugs in the game.BOSS works well with both Wrye Bash and OBMM. However, it does NOT need either of them to work. You must always start the game with OBSE if you have a mod that requires it, and not the Oblivion launcher. Both Wrye Bash and OBMM have built in launchers that will start with OBSE. I don't recommend Wrye Bash for beginners. OBMM is much easier to work with at first and will do everything you need right now. (mostly just manually changing load order) After you become much more experienced, you may wish to try Wrye Bash. As neither Wrye Bash or OBMM is running while the game is, they can both be used together - IF you read the instructions on how to do this. David Brasher
I might be a stick in the mud, but I never enable more than two or three new mods at a time, and then I spend an evening playing, during which time I am likely to notice really obvious problems. I prefer to only enable one new mod per day. Maybe I am too conservative, but I think vanilla Oblivion is cool, and mods should be used with thought and caution. I have heard of people that bought the game, and then attempted to install 40 mods (usually with disastrous consequences) before even playing it for the very first time. I think it makes more sense to beat the main quest once with no mods, and then decide how to change the game to suit one's personal tastes.
