20072008
Okay so I've been messing about with the G.E.C.K. and have made a few guns and now started on making my own vault. Anyway after I have tested things out once I go back into the G.E.C.K. it will not allow me to save again. I can edit the mod and move things around however when I go to save it comes up with a warning telling me the plug in can not be saved as the file may be locked. I looked at my file and noticed at the end it had .tes instead of the .esp. Now I've tried to change it back to .esp but it didn't work. Is there anyway that I can unlock the file so that I can edit it more. Thank You For The Help (I'm on windows vista by the way)
trog2006
20072008 try using fallout mod manager, it allows you to combine mods into a single mod. It is also really useful at unpacking files that you may want to manipulate or alter by using the bsa unpacker. Of course there may be a better way that someone can suggest, but that's how I'd do it. (Edited my post as I resolved my problem)
trog2006
Also I found that my error (esp files saving as shortcuts from GECK) were caused by the expansion packs (Or one expansion pack). Sadly I don't know which one caused it, but reinstalling Fallout without the expansions was enough to fix the fault.
trog2006
Just had a thought. Do you get the error "Active file not set"? 'cos that may also have something to do with it.
20072008
I'm trying to reinstall Fallout and save it somewehere else instead of in the program files as recommended by other guides since I am not capable of installing mods from other people for some reason. trog2006
I'm trying to reinstall Fallout and save it somewehere else instead of in the program files as recommended by other guides since I am not capable of installing mods from other people for some reason. You've probably done this, but I'm just making sure... To get other mods to work you need to have archive invalidation installed...or the relevent file modified to allow custom content. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=229 Try it anyway, just in case. Let me know how you get on.
