treyguitar
I found a way to show the new content but, unless you want to lose all items stored in chests, armor stands etc., is rather long to do... you need to edit the savegame with the toolset. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SAVEGAMES OR YOU MAY DESTROY IT!! I WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED RESPONSIBLE OF SAVEGAME DEATH To just reset the area and lose all items inside: 1. Open your savegame (<savename>.das) with the toolkit2. Under the tree SAVEGAME_AREALIST delete the structure where the TAG value matches the name of the area to reset (in my case, it was the last added gwc_castle, for my personal castle mod). If you don't care to lose all items stored in the area chests, just save and load your save in game. To reset area and keep items: 1. Do a backup of the savegame (from now on called SAVE B)2. Do as above and delete the structure in the original savegame (original from now on called SAVE A)3. Load the SAVE A in game, you'll see that chests are empty now but can see new content4. Make a new save (from now on SAVE C) and exit game5. Load the backed up save with toolset (SAVE B)6. Load the new save (SAVE C)5. Find the structure number you previously deleted in SAVE B6. Open the tree SAVEGAME_AREA_PLACEABLES7. There will be a list of numbered trees, the chests are inside there, every tree is an item inside the area, look for the chest name you want to restore.8. Copy the structure SAVEGAME_ITEMS in the same tree number on the new save (SAVE C)9. Do this for every chest you want to restore10. Remember to save changes in the toolset11 . ?????12. Profit Rather long to do but works.
Benator
thx for the description. I experiented also with the toolset and the savegames. My experiences: At first I wanted to partielly copy the chests in the savegame with the toolset. Then I saw - depending on the version - different waypoints, IDs and so on. So I was a little bit too cowardly to copy chests. Then I wanted to copy the complete inno pocket plane area trea (empty 1.4 replaces an 1.3). That does not work. The toolset shows an error that the inserted elements have got another structure than the existing ones. Dunno how this can be. So i decided to make a manual move: - I installed the 1.4 Version, but I always get the 1.3 version in game. - I emptied the storage of the 1.3 Version in game with an expanded bag (http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=281) - I went to the camp, saved and delete the inno pocket plane area from the savegame tree. - I used the stone and the 1.4 version was available. - I put the stuff in the chests and the moving was finished No problems so far. But I hope there will be a general solution... if I interpret the structure of the savegame correctly, than there is a merge process during the update needed. Dunno how that can work automatically. nikivich
I'm afraid it is a savegame issue that a modder can not solve. The game shouldn't cache area layouts, just references to objects and their contents...Anyway, I'll try out your savegames and see if I can force anything to change by I doing dunno what :) But by searching around it seems that most mods that have storage are running into this problem... I'm afraid for now you can only upgrade with a new game or used the manual "move" you described. On a side note, the pocket plane entire setup is changing, you will be able to add/remove/relocate containers/creatures by using 2DA files... that way after an upgrade you should be able to see the new stuffbecause it would be spawned with scripts, not be in the actual "area file".... I'm hoping this will solve this issue but I have no way of being sure :)
