CWardUSC
One of the things I've been noticing, as someone who likes to supplement the Character Generator in as many ways as possible, is that there seem to be a lot of mods coming out that need to be compatible with one another. So far each mod has done a fine job of making itself compatible with other mods, and it seems like that torch passes on to the newest entrant into the chargen parade. It started with Chargen Package, then came CC Extra Tints and Tones, and then came Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors. These three mods weren't inherently compatible, but someone released a friendly file which worked for a time, the last update being on the 15th. More recently we've seen the release of More Hairstyles, and kzelsama did a good job of insuring compatibility with the former three, so this became the 'final install' so to speak. And now we also have Bidelles Makeup Studio, which has in turn provided compatibility with all of the previous four. Up to a point this has worked, and a couple users are releasing friendly files on occasion for a number of these. But when the field of face morph contributors grows larger, as it inevitably will, it will be harder to tell which chargenmorph file to use without having to make manual edits. What I'd propose is: A) Create a new category specifically for Character Generator files, rather than lump them in 'Models & Textures'.B) Have a thread here on the forum where the creators of those mods can collaborate new releases, with the onus being on the person with the latest release to insure cross-compatibility by uploading a new chargenmorph.C) Allow 'collaborative files', where multiple users can upload new files, so there can be a mod called "Chargen Friendly" which all 5 of these mod creators and any future others have access to upload new editions to. I think if this is possible it would make it easier on both modders and players who want the full package deal. It'd be an added bonus if similar features across mods were picked up on and cut down on so you don't see 80 iterations of 'blueface' since 80 different mods add it, but that's not something that can really be aided by this. The ability to collaborate on a 'file' would probably come in handy for other situations as well, so would be a nice site feature. Alternatively, someone could write a VBScript to parse all the existing chargenmorph's, rename them, and generate a new one. Just my 2c. :thanks:
