kusokasa
My problem is really hard to explain so I have to upload a screen shot: It seems that the ground texture looks like a strange map of texture's neighbouring area (screen shot taken near Imperial City). In Bruma the ground texture looks like map of northern Cyrodiil etc. I don't have any texture packs installed. Bug shows up in every default texture size setting (low, medium & high) in everywhere Cyrodiil only on ground. My card is NVidia GeForce 9800 GT. Is there any way to fix this? mooncarver
whoa how funky is that :D have you tried reinstalling oblivion? maybe something went wrong during the installation process. also obmm might help you out here, since it makes the vanilla "archive invalidation system" redundant thus eliminating possible mix ups and errors. you've mentioned not having any texture packs installed, but it's still worth a try. btw thats why you should have posted your mod list. this may still be a mod related problem after all. jaosals42
If you haven't already, get the latest drivers for your video card. That could be causing the issue. If it isn't, then you'd probably do best to remove the program and re-install it as mooncarver mentioned.
bben46
This used to be a common problem, but I haven't seen it in a while. Luckily I still have my canned answer. Purple ground Edited 4/25/09 - added link to shaders - Thanks Qwaxalot I believe this is caused by a group of files called shaders. These files can be different for different graphics cards. If they somehow get the wrong shaders installed one of the results is the terrain in the foreground is purple. The shader package is based on your particular graphics card and is installed when you first install Oblivion. I have seen 4 possible fixes for this problem. The easiest is to go into your in game menu, (esc) select video and make sure your texture size is set to large. The second involved the textures from unique landscapes. reinstalling them fixed it. The third is replacing the shaders, see this: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20348 Thanks to Qwaxalot for this tipThe shaders may be graphic card dependent, I'm not sure on this. The fourth involves loading patches in the wrong order and the only way to fix that one is to reinstall in the right order. Note that the oblivion uninstaller leaves behind your saves, mods (data) and some entries in the Windows registry. These will still be there after you have reinstalled. So if You have a problem with a mod causing the problem or a bad save or a bad Registry entry, The problem may still be there. My recommended uninstall and reinstall leaves you with a clean install. And your original mods and saves in a separate folder that you can put back into the new game. Or you can start over and install your mods again.See this for my recommendation for uninstalling and reinstalling Oblivion. http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240 Please leave some feedback to let me know what works. kusokasa
I fixed the problem! There was something wrong with my shaders. Replacing the shader files really works! I didn't have to reinstall whole game. HUGE thanks to everyone for the answers! Playing Oblivion isn't annoying anymore! :thanks:
