Magicka Greatly Increases When Waiting

My magicka goes from 0/76 (when I purposively exhaust my supply), and when I wait just one hour, it instantly almost quadruples up to 478/76. I feel that's kind of unbalancing, IF it's the effect of a .esp. However, I disabled all my .esp's and it still occured. So now I'm wondering... is this normal? My character is a Dark Elf custom-class, vampire.

I'll be really happy if it's built into the game, but I just... don't always remember it being like that... I don't know. It doesn't seem right. Any information would be peachy.

~EDIT~

Here are the screenshots from a post of mine below. Take a gander at 'em all in order. I've cropped 'em to make them easier to load.

See? That happen to anyone else? :(

(PS: Oh, I cut out the custom class name because I'm secretive. o_O )

yes i know... it looks weird... No matter howmuch health/magicka/fatigue you got, wait 1 hour and it's all back. That's a bit to much i think :)

I think he means, "Is it normal for my magicka supply to exceed my reserve by 402 after waiting for an hour?"

It sounds like a display bug. I have something like that for my armor; it bounces from 12 (incorrect) to 46 (correct!) upon occassion. I haven't isolated why, though it seems linked to a UI page.

Yup, that's what I mean. It doesn't only occur if I wait an hour, too... it occurs whenever I wait/sleep.

Well, it's not a display bug because I can use the excess magicka. That's why I felt it was unfair, because I had 402 (thanks for doing the math :P) extra magicka that I could use to easily raise my magic attributes, plus the 76 or so I already had, and then rest one hour to get the insane bonus again.

I know it's not a mod. I disabled 'em all and loaded a saved game (despite the "Are you sure you want to load? Some objects may not be available with certain mods disabled." warning), and the same thing occured.

Now, either it's the effect of some item I have, a special vampiric bonus, or somehow my Oblivion.esm got modified to give me an insane bonus to magicka every time I rested. Yes, I've opened it up, but I've always saved my modifications to a .esp file, which is why I'm worried that no one else experiences this.

Could a stat (willpower? speed?) be causing this? My speed is at 99, and willpower is somewhere in the 60s. Could that probably be the cause?

I don't know. I just kinda feel bad for being able to get so much extra magicka every time I rest, like it's not normal.

Hm... well, magicka is supposed to be = (INT * 2) + modifiers (race, birth signs)... am I correct in assuming your INT is 38 and you are neither Breton nor High Elf, nor born under Apprentice, Atronach, or Mage?

I guess it could be some crazy bug where where you somehow regen more magicka than you can possibly have...

Did you try to create a new file and see if the effect happened as well? Because if you saved while a script from a mod was running, that could've corrupted your save file to make it think you had 478 Magicka every time you rested, I had something like that happen to me on an earlier save.

That's a good idea. I'll try to create a new save with no mods enabled to see if it happens, and then check out an older save.

My race is Dunmer (dark elf). Intelligence is currently at 40. Birthsign is thief.

I hope it's not.

I was hoping y'all would say it was occuring to you as well. It kind of makes sense, the crazy magicka bonus whenever you rest. It would allow you to cast spells of a greater level after you've rested, but once you've used up the excess magicka, you can only regen back up to 70, thus causing you to have to rest again. To me, that makes sense, but I just want to know if it's designed this way (which it doesn't look like that's how it's going to turn out), or what-have-you. Thank you for all the responses.

I'd start a new character to get away from this "bug", but mine is level 11 already and has done a bunch of stuff. ;D  So it wouldn't exactly be the funnest endeavor.

Well, I've done some saved game research. I am currently on Save Game # 80. At save game # 50 (level 7), I gained no bonus while resting. At save game # 73 (level 10), I gained an approximate 150 excess magicka bonus. At my most recent saves, no matter which one, I always gain the 205-ish bonus. No mods were enabled during the testing.

 This is really kinda wierd... no one else has this happen to them?

I think I'll take some screenshots, too. I'll post them up soon.

Your default magic is 76 because you have attribute damage on your INT.

You're also a vampire. Does that affect magicka in any way? By any chance, were you not a vampire around save #50?

Yes, I've been a vampire since about day two as this character. As a matter of fact, the first dungeon I explored was Fort Carmala just to catch vampirism. ;)

None of the active effects suggests that vampirism could be the cause, though, which is why I'm stumped.
