cchoay
Yes, another noob question on the grey face bug. For reference's sake, I'm using a custom follower like : http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21114/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D21114&pUp=1 where the facegen data is already included in the mod. However, the face still remains grey. She's not the only one either. All other custom NPCs have the grey face as well, while vanilla NPCs seem to have retained their normal colour. Is going into the CK and exporting the facegen again the only way? I'd like to avoid it if possible since it keeps bugging out on me XD
rhowington
You have some other mod causing this problem use BOSS or LOOT to sort your load order and clean any mods that is required. If you export the FaceGenData for a standalone follower you will just make things worse.
cchoay
Mods have been sorted with LOOT and cleaned with TES5Edit. The companion linked above now displays her face properly. HOWEVER, I have a problem with another custom follower, grey face again. I'm suspecting that a possible reason is because I merged her esp into one with several other esps. Does that cause the grey face bug?
Katy420
If you use Apachii hair for NPCs, there are two patches needed to fix that (found in the mod's files section under optional files). Which mods do you use that edit vanilla NPCs? I would suggest Inhabitants of Skyrim, it doesn't seem to have the problems others do. But those mods all will eventually cause the grey face bug if you keep piling them on. Use as few as possible (IoS works fine on its own for me-- sure I might like one or two custom appearances in other mods, but mixing them is such a pain that it's best to stick with one or two tops). cchoay
Vanilla NPCs don't have the grey face though. Only custom followers. On that note, what I use are a mixture of texture mods like Bella's Better females (which I will replace now since it basically made everyone look the same =\) No ESPs used to edit them. I do use Apachii, but only for myself. Edited May 22, 2014 by cchoay
cchoay
Edit: I just realised that Gerdur has the grey face bug, as does the above mentioned custom Follower. Another custom follower, Kamille Shy, however, seems to be perfectly fine.
