Fose is not launching, and I have no idea why.

I have Fallout 3 game of the year, patched to 1.7, with the FOMM but no G.E.C.K., and not working. I've placed all the dll files, and the FOSE_loader in the main Fallout 3 directory. What do I do with the SCR file? I've placed it in the main directory and the data file, and completely ignored it too, changed nothing. When I try to launch FOSE, it says I have an unknown version of FO3. I have first tried with FOSE v 1.1 beta 9.7, then I tried v 1.2 beta 1.7, neither worked. I have the redownloaded and reinstalled both FOSE version three times now. I do have the fose_1_7.dll file, so that isn't the problem. I don't want to have want to reinstall FO3, so is there any way around it? I'm using vista btw, but I've have FO3 and FOSE work on vista before, so.... yeah. I can play FO3 perfectly fine without FOSE, but I'm missing out on all the awesome mods, so please help.

The SCR file goes with the FOSE .DLL FILES in the main directory (C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\.) at least that's where I have mine and it works.

This is just a guess but try patching GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION after you've placed your (FOSE) files in Fallout 3.

Perhaps the Patch activates or causes FOSE to recognise the game ..... that worked for me ..... but I must admit that I never got the "unknown version" error remark.

 

I used to play the game on Vista as well and that's where I cut my teeth on Fallout 3 and the Mods and that's where I had a very similair problem too.

I use vista too, and i've tried with fose 10 times, but the problem i get is that i keep getting the "diagnostic message: can't open output file xxx (xxx being any of the files or parts of fose)", and it doesn't even appear in the directory. I am using games for windows, but i can't even log in with it on f3 (says my key isn'ät valid lol, when it is, bought it it in a store fair and square), so it shoudn't be any problem. i play all my games via steam, so do you think it might work if i buy the steam (goty) version of the game, or is it solely becaus of me using a vista?
