Cant drop items? cant exit lockpick

Ive just bought the game of the year edition, so only have oblivion, shivering isles and knights running.

 

Im playing on a laptop which I believe is the problem, I cant drop items from my inverntory or exit the lockpick minigame. Perhaps im missing something, but I have tried every button on the keyboard and none of them allow me to exit the lockpick minigame (unless I run out of lockpicks)

I cant drop items either, so im stuck as I can only put them in containers. Am I missing something? Which button drops items by default?

Dropping items: Press + hold mouse on item in inventory. Drag mouse outside of inventory area. Let go. (N.B. It will only allow you to do this if there is plenty of space in front of you). Sometimes objects will 'stick' to your mouse cursor - if so then you need to press 'z' (the grab key) to let go.

 

Exiting Lockpicking: Click on 'Close' on bottom right of lockpicking dialog box.

Ok got the item drop working, but with the lockipicking theres no mouse control when lockpicking, all I can do is move the tumblers, arrow keys dont move to close, its there, the close and auto attempt thing, but neither the arrow keys or the mouse let me move to the close option. Is there a button that I can use to close it?

Ah, I forgot about that. The mouse control is there - it is just hidden. In order to show it just keep moving the invisible mouse cursor down and it will show up eventually.
