Mod Manager and SSDs

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm finalizing my build and I have a question about how games and Mod Manager interact across multiple drives.

I'm planning on a 2TB HDD and a 120GB SSD for OS and important software. Say I install Skyrim on the SSD, but install the mod manager to the HDD. How is that going to affect my using it? For example:

  • Mod files will still end up on the SSD since that's where Skyrim is, correct?
  • Will having NMM on one drive and the game on another cause any issues?
  • Should I just save myself a headache and install NMM on the SSD?

I'd like to keep the mod manager off the SSD if at all possible, but if it's not, then whatever. It's got enough real estate for the OS plus MS Office, blah blah blah, but I want to know how files will behave and if it will work at all before I pull the trigger on my build.

The game can only use mods that are in its own folder, not anywhere else.

edit: So what NMM does is put mods in the game's folder. You can put NMM anywhere that works.
