quick question

i just created a slight variant of Ren's mystic elves race with slightly different stats and some eyes from Capucine's character expansion but now when i try to start a new game as that race the eyes are stuck on some weird black/white mesh and i cant change them, also Ren's hairs don't show up as options in hair select.

I'm pretty new to modding hopefully this is just something simple to fix, any ideas out there? :thanks:

Ren's Mystic Elf uses its own eye meshes, while Capucine's eye textures are for vanilla eye meshes. Both eyes are incompatible each other due to different UV mapping. If you want to use Capucine's eyes for Mystic Elf, you'll need to change eye meshes to Capucine's tweaked vanilla eye meshes.

If you want to use the Human Eye meshes for your race so you can have Capucine's Eye textures you can extract the Oblivion Meshes BSA and get the eye meshes from there.

Have you made new named directories for your race so it's content is only used by that race? I find this to be the best method to avoid problems. You can also add the hair, earrings, body textures etc, etc into your folders as well. This obviously adds to the size of your mod, but is guaranteed to avoid incompatibility.

If so place the Human Eye meshes into folers named Meshes\characters\YourRace\eyes folder and the textures into Textures\characters\Your Race\eyes\Capucine.

Then change the paths for the eyes in your race's data page. This way no other race is affected. I did this with one of my races so they could use Elaborate Eyes without the issues many people have with messed up eyes.

You can use a program like BSA Commander or OBMM to extract the meshes. I use OBMM and it works fine. If you use OBMM, just double click on the Oblivion - Meshes.bsa and a window will pop up. You can either extract all files or find the ones you need and just extract them.

Make sure you extract to a folder outside the Oblivion data folder so as not to cause issues with both the BSA and the extracted files in the same place. Make a temp folder somewhere and put them there.

The files are called:

eyerighthuman.tri

eyerighthuman.nif

eyerighthuman.egm

eyelefthuman.tri

eyelefthuman.nif

eyelefthuman.egm

I hope that was of some help.
