Using Windows 7 or Vista?

This is probably a UAC (User Account Control) problem. One way to solve it is to install Oblivion into a non-default directory.

 

e.g. put it in

C:\Games\Oblivion

instead of

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion

 

The alternative involves setting stuff to "run as administrator" but I don't know off hand exactly what to do.

well atm it is saved onto my ext hdd but tht is in its program files, wuld copying the folder to another area work because i borrowed my friends disks an made an iso of the oblivion dvd but not the shivering isle 1.
