3rdtryguy
Every day I look around with awe and wonder at all the awesome mods available, but then I remember one thing: my lousy dialup connection would NEVER let me download them, or download the things I'd require to even make them work. Things like OBSE and MMM & FCOM & OOO and some various beauty and new body enhancers and clothes and such would be terrific if I could only get them. I've never even played Shivering Isles because I can't download the patch which fixes it's huge bugs, and without it, half the mods on the nexus wouldn't work for me.( by the way, does the GOTY version fix this already? Would it make sense to buy the GOTY and finally have my game up to a current version? If I did, could I still get the DLC off of my KOTN disc? ) Anyway, I am hoping that somebody with some of these major must-have mods could possibly burn them to a CD and mail them to me? I can even pay you for your trouble. I'm tired of always being left out of the big-mod fun. Thanks!

I'm tired of always being left out of the big-mod fun. Thanks!I believe flashget can be used for downloading those mods in multiple sittings. Just set it up to where it uses only 1 stream, and checks for any download process. It would still take you a long time though. The other option would be to go to somewhere like a net cafe, and download the files to a USB drive. You might end up paying a bit, but shouldn't be too much. ptbptb
Anyway, I am hoping that somebody with some of these major must-have mods could possibly burn them to a CD and mail them to me? I suggest you post your PC specs. No point in getting a bunch of huge mods sent to you if your computer can't run them properly.
Hididety
That's weird to me because I use my phone as a dial up modem and I can download anything I want. Including stuff from limewire, check out your perrmissions and UAC, there could be some thing that is stopping file transfers. No guarantees though. 3rdtryguy
Well, I tried flashget.Huge mistake. HUGE.It's mothing but very sophisticated spyware, and it's making me wait about 3 seconds every tinme I change a page, and I can't yet figure out how to get rid of it, but I will. STAY AWAY fro this program, everyone. I should have known that something so ostensibly useful would not be as "Free" as advertized.

I've used it quite a few times in the past with no problems. You don't leave it turned on constantly... only when you want to download something in multiple sittings. ptbptb
Are you sure you configured it right? I've used it quite a few times in the past with no problems. I did a little Googling - it seems a common problem is people who download FlashGet from third-party sites and get one that has been loaded up with trojans. Maybe that was his problem. There seems to be general agreement that the current version of FlashGet is free of spyware (but there are false-positives with some anti-spyware software). theuseless
I have a program called "flashgot" that works great for me. I've tested it with Avast, McAffee and AVG. No viruses in mine. It turns 30 min downloads into 2-3 for me. If that absolutely doesn't work, I have just downloaded all the mods from the toql (Top Oblivion Quests Links I think). If you wish for me to burn them for you, I can send them to you free of charge (what can I say, I'm a nice guy). Just send me your snail mail and they'll be there standard shipping (might take a week for me to actually get them into the mail). I will include all common modding utilities such as OBMM, Wrye Bash, OBSE, Pluggy, etc. I won't however send you a copy of any copyrighted materials as that would be piracy and I value my freedom. All that I ask in return is kudos upon recieving it (don't give me them yet or I might not send the disks :whistling: lol)
David Brasher
I not only have problems with a slow Internet connection but with instability. When things are going badly, I can lose my Internet connection every 30 minutes. If things are going well, I can stay on for three hours at a stretch. So I don't really like to download anything bigger than 10 MB. I think the largest downloads I have ever successfully captured were about 40 MB. To which many people would say, "Just get a high speed Internet connection! (Idiot.)" But I live in a rural area and some of the fast options are not even available. Money is tight. Unemployment is at 10% and I am grateful to be underemployed rather than unemployed. But I can sure have a lot of fun with Oblivion and my slow Internet connection. :)
theuseless
FlashGot has 2 primary functions: 1: It opens multiple download windows (hidden) in the logic that if 2 downloads of the same file running at the same time will speed it up, why not 5, 10, or even 20? This indeed does decrease download time dramticaly. 2: It will save and automatically resume any paused or disconnected download. If you get booted, lose connection because a bird took a duece on your satelite, whatever the reason, Flashgot will resume your download automatically when your connection is reset. I would highly reccomend getting the download from the official site as I did the same google research and mirror sites for this download frequently contain spyware. This could also be the spyware malfunctioning, such as when AVG doesn't like use of programs that alter another program in any way. AVG once told me that Magic The Gathering Online was a virus because it uses a seperate kicker program to update the main exe. Some logic, eh?
