Every single mod i download does not work, I've extracted all files to my data folder

selected them from the Data files menu at the start

but nothing

I'm using windows 7, and I've already tried installing it in another place, like C:/Games/Oblivion/ (Thats where it is right now)

and I've tried running it as admin, but nothing changes

I don't know what the problem is, and help would be really appreciated.

I have a set of help files for people who are not computer geeks and are new to mods. They include downloading, extracting (unzipping) installing and activating mods. I have included a simple mod to practice on and instructions for installing and using 7-zip. If you are interested, click on the highlighted link below to be taken to the site where they are kept. I recommend starting with #1 and working your way through them.

If you use them I would appreciate some feedback as to what needs improvement and what works for you.

OBMM will automatically place everything, meshes, textures etc, IF you use the OMOD option.

It will show any esp or esm you installed into the data folder manually.

If you don't use the OMOD option to install, it will not install anything, just display any esp that has already been installed.

Manual install

1. Create a new folder outside of Oblivion for your downloaded mods.

2. For each mod you download, make a new sub folder there for it.

3. Download the mod directly into its new folder - or if you have already downloaded it somewhere, move it there.

4. Extract (unzip) the mod into the folder

5. Copy - do not move all game files directly into the Oblivion\data folder. No need to copy the zipped file, any read me files or any pictures that were included in the zipped mod. Any file that it doesn't know what to do with will end up in the /data folder.

The various parts of the mod should automatically go into their proper subfolders in the data folder, meshes into /data/meshes, Textures into \data\textures etc, any bsa files should go directly into the \data folder. and the esp and any esm should also go directly into the \data folder.
