Can't get FWE to work, Windows 7?

I've read all of the guides I could, followed them exactly as instructed, I have CRAFT. CALIBR, and FOSE installed, used ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated. I use FOMM to arrange the files according to the FSE readme. I start up fallout with the "Launch FOSE" button from FOMM, create a new game, but after the video it starts me at the birth instead of the empty shack. I have no idea what I could be doing wrong, is it an issue with Windows 7?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I tried a fresh install of Fo3. This time just installing FWE (along with required addons, Calibr, Craft, FOSE, ArchiveInvalidation) patch 1.5, used the Windows Live Disable. Still, when I create a new game it starts me off at the birthing instead of the empty shack as described in the FWE readme.

What am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure FWE is supposed to start you off in the birthing scene. After it progresses through character creation, you will get a dialog asking if you want to wake up or keep dreaming. If you choose wake up, you will be in the shack. If you choose to keep dreaming, you will proceed with the Vault101 quest like normal.

Check if FWE is installed correctly both main assets + esm + esp files.

Is it installed in Program Files folder? (Sorry couldn't resist asking)

If you are absolutely sure it is installed properly try running it in a window. (I know sounds silly but has reduced crashes/locksups and increased FPS for me)

Oh yes have you changed the Fallout.INI the binvalidateolderfiles to 1? (I'm betting it's this)

On W7 it's in Computer -> Documents -> My Games -> Fallout 3

Thanks for the reply.

It's installed in c:\program files (x86) instead of c:\program files. Could that make a difference? Other than that, yes to all of the above. I believe the ArchiveInvalidate changes the .ini to 1 since it was already set at 1 when I checked.

I can't say anything about the installation folder because I've never even seen a program files (x86) folder before. But it is highly inadvisable to install Fallout 3 in it's default installation directory (That being the program files folder). Why? Search forums and/or google - Will find an extensive discussion about it.

But I'm actually quite puzzled because it works fine for me. I don't have it installed in the default directory or not even in the same drive as my OS (Drive doesn't matter really). If all else fails you can try to reinstall Fallout 3. I installed it in this order:

G4WL Redis. installation

Fallout 3

Fallout 3 1.7 Patch

Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch

FOMM

FOSE

Everything else I wanted (mods etc.)

Done this same routine a few times and haven't had that kind of a lockup ever. I have the Fallout 3 normal DVD version (bought the same day it came to stores quite a time ago) of it and not the newer GOTY edition and I have none of the DLC's either.

But because the "Continue Dreaming" option lets you play it without crashes/lockups etc. that would suggest, atleast to me, that the problem is with FWE or some part in the FWE installation. Could part of the archive you downloaded be corrupted or something like that? I'm running out of advice at this point and anything I write after the last sentence is just filler that isn't really helpful. Sorry.
