Help: with oblivion animations using 3Ds Max

Hello. I have been using Seph's animation tutorial (http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=143) to make new animations for Seph's hand to hand combat.

 

It was not successful, at the end of the tutorial the animation in game would be a simple 'blip' where the character disappeared for a little while.

 

There were a couple things unanswered/unresolved in the tutorial, however, that may be related to the unsuccessful outcome.

 

Firstly, I could not figure out how to cut out a specific part of an animation to use, in 3Ds Max. Like the animation i want to use is a minute long, I wanted to just use seconds 43 to 47 of the animation. No idea how to do that.

 

Secondly, as Seph instructed, I moved the biped model to the center of the grid. However, once I merged the animation with "Mr. Cellophane’s Animation Exporter.max", the biped would revert back to its original off center position. I don't know why it does this...

 

 

As far as I know, these were the only 2 problems. The rest of the tutorial made sense. Could anyone help me with these issues? Then more may occur afterwards :/ *crosses fingers*
