Can't combine these two mods.

Recommended Posts

Well I've been having this problem that's been bugging me for the past two days. I had downloaded and successfully added a mesh to the game to be used as a single foot and lowerbody armor piece. It gives my character goat hooves with some cool leg guards. Only one problem: She has no underwear. I've been racking my brain trying to fumble around nifskope and merge two meshes together, which with my fairly new knowledge of nifskope, I thought it would be a simple cut and paste job with a little parent child editing. I took some underwear from another nif that used a different bone structure. Once I got the underwear hooked up and the textures fixed, I load up the game and in the inventory screen, my character is still bottomless! In world, the underwear has major clipping issues and is actually deformed, almost crumpled looking. I'm willing to bet it was incompatibility with the two bone structures of each different nif. Both of the mods I used use legs from HGEC's GUTS mod for female bodies. I'll post links to both the mods I'm trying to combine and if any of you can help me with getting the underwear to work without a hitch, I would be greatful. Or you can insult my newbness to nifs and nifskope and then begrudgingly point me in the right direction. :)

The goat hooves

The underwear

If you want to know, I'm modding my character to look like a Draenei from WOW. Going pretty good up till now.

I don't know if it will help, but I'll tell you what I would try:

Import the underwear nif in Blender and delete the legs and armature. (If you don't have Blender, it's free, and after a little tutorial time you'll know how to do what I mean. It's worth it.)

Import the hooves model and delete the armature.

Edit the underwear into position by moving faces or verts in edit mode, NOT the whole object at once in object mode.

Press A until everything is highlighted and import the skeleton nif. You might need to unpack the Oblivion BSA for it, but if you're using body mods there should be a skeleton nif already in your data folder. There is with Robert's anyway.

Make sure you have the import skeleton only and parent selection button selected.

Now export it all into a new nif file.

No need to use nifskope now, unless you need to specify textures. If using the regular textures, you should be fine.

Make a new form ID in the CS and point it towards your new mesh.

I've edited a few clothing nifs, as well as architecture, and that is the method I use. I've only had a few invisible mesh errors (all in the upper body slot for some reason).

I hope this helps you.
