------------------------CALLING OBLIVION FANS---------------------------

Ok let me introduce my self, i'm Dharus and I have a vision to completely overhaul Oblivion as we know it. I want to make the Oblivion experience enjoyable since I know many of you just don't like the Vanilla and don't feel like loading in 100+ mods that may or may not conflict with eachother. BUT!!!!! And thats a big BUT. I don't want to be someone who designs this type of project that I am trying to produce for myself I want it to be crafted for the people that is why I am asking for your input on what should go into this mod for Oblivion. You don't have to be a modder to put input in this you just have to like the game and play it. I want your ideas anything that you thought would be cool to have in Oblivion. Quests, Items, Armor and Weapons, Spells, People. Anything and everything I want your ideas.

My pitch ok there are a number of things that I want to change/add for Oblivion that would make it better in my opinion but I need help. A team you might say. So I am asking anyone -ANYONE- who wants to help create such a massive project because frankly I can't do this all by my lonesome. Not for what I want to do. I want scripters, questmakers, Dungeonmakers, Weaponmakers, Armormakers, Ect. You get the idea. I want you all to help if you are interested.

Interested? Ok here's what you do.

_If you just have an idea for a quest or weapon/armor/spell or something along those lines and can't mod_

Message me with your idea in full.... and I mean FULL detail of what it is/how it works. This is really important I cant put what you want in this project if you just give me a vague idea of which to work from.

_If you want to help out with this project and can mod_

Message me with your screen name and a couple of ways I can get ahold of you. Along with.....

What you do:

Any Idea that you have/want to bring to this project:

How much experiance you have:

If you have created any mods a sample of your work:

I can't say that everyone who wants to help out will get in because what I require is a very good set of skills. But please message me if you are interested.

Ok on to what I plan to do with this. I want to release this project as an OMOD so you can customize features that you want for even more flexability. Since I can't do this on my own I need someone who has experience working with OMOD.

Ok here is what I want to change as far as the features of the game.

-An improved combat system

-An improved Magic system

-New quests including adding more depth to the vanilla ones on the game. Most importantly I want to change the main quest to something eveyone will enjoy. I want to add additional main quests that can be triggered after the original is completed.

-New creatures/animals

-Changes to a lot of gameplay effects. Ex. Creatures being leveled.

-Improved cities. I want to create the cities to look like they were ment to be made.

-New spells weapons and armor. I don't just want to create a retextured form of a previosly made armor or weapon. Although I will include them to add depth to the game cause lets face it the armor might be the same but that doesn't mean it should look the same.

-Improved econimic system. I want to base it off of some mods that I love myself

-More areas to explore forts and ruins and such.

-More NPC's. Why does the Imperial city the LARGEST city in the whole game have maybe 50 npc's? Lets change that.

-New factions complete with thier own quests.

-More creatures. One creature per square mile? I mean come on.

-More races. Ideas welcome on this one.

-New animations. I know people don't like some of the animations that come with the game so lets change that.

Thats just but a general idea that I want to do. I don't want to change Oblivion itself I just want to add more depth and change things so people can enjoy the game even more. I have only the upmost respect for Bethesda and the Elder Scrolls series. And I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW there are other mods out there like this that completely overhaul the game but I'm talking something bigger and more in depth than OOO and mods like it. Thank you for reading all of this. And please if you don't have anything nice to say about my idea don't say it. I just want to make a mod that everyone will enjoy.

Best,

Dharus

Marked * for ideas which relate to things that would be severely limited due to game layout and mechanics

Marked # for things which are present in OOO.

Marked % for things which are present in FCOM, Midas Magic, or other popular mods where there would be some significant conflicts.

Not trying to discourage you, but why re-invent the wheel? Instead of focusing on re-creating work which has already been done, and most people like, why not focus on new content that you don't need 10-20 skilled persons to make? You know... Something more in line with what talents you have, even if it means joining some other project until you can broaden/improve those talents.

I like the more enemies idea as long as it doesn't remind me of cliff racers (shivers) but what about more diseases? I mean Morrowind had more than one why not Oblivion. It makes me think of going to the doc and he tells me "you have a disease" I'd want to know weather or not I had herpes or the clap you know (I don't I'm just saying). At least 3 would be cool like common moderate and sever, or blight and corpus maybe??? but yeah just me thinking

Not to mention, if you're serious, rather than a "let's fake it to get replies troll," we won't see you surface again for at least 5 years.

Well I'm not trying to take what people have done and change them as you might be describing under the re inventing the wheel thing. There is another reason for this project. Most of the popular mods out that that do all this stuff like OOO and Midas Magic are made by different people. And when that happens there is cound to be some conflict with the game. At least it has for me anyways. I want to make a mod that combines these -ideas- (Not the mods themselves) to make them work together without conflicting. Now I realize that some mods just don't work together because of things they may change like leveled lists and stuff like that. But mods sometimes there are issues other than that. Anyways It doesn't really matter if I don't get help or not because I'm going through with it. And if peoplel like the mods out there then so be it they don't have to download mine. But I want to do this for fun because it is. Even if it does take me 5 years haha. Although hopefully it wont, but if it does it'd be five years of fun for me. Anyways thanks for the input.

Hey there.

Good idea about trying to combine or reverse engineer the mods that are out there now. Loading over 100+ mods is very messy, and this is the kind of effort I'd like to see around here more often. Cleaning up.

Just some concerns, ideas, comments:

- You really should get a feel for what the best gameplay changes are from everyone. I know, for myself, the changes I want most are balance and progression, I also like keeping things in tune with Lore. Some other folks prefer realism, I don't - I see it as a waste of time to my actual playing.

- New stuff I love. Often it's a matter of taste and lore, but try to stick to lore and not have something that just doesn't fit Cyrodil unless it's actually imported. Cyrodil is the center of an empire at the time,

- I don't think the province needs more buildings, I think it may need more hidden things in between the places where there are already buildings...of course, the buildings themselves could use a bit of love.

- If you look closely, The IC supports very few people - if there are going to be more, They need a place to live or need to make use of the Inns. Otherwise I hear ya on that. Just don't copy names or make cheap ones. Make them believable.

- Be careful with the main quest - Some mods already put some nice little additions in, but I'd like, if anything, more options in getting some things done. (Steal a GWS from one of those spoken-of collectors)

- Combat and magic system: You're up against some really big mods. not everyone likes deadly reflex, and on the magic end you have mods that vastly improve spells and their usefulness.

- Plan very carefully - you have a huge job if you really want to reproduce all that work, even when declaring that you're willing to do that alone. Work efficiently and check your work using the correct tools. DO nothing half assed.

- Manage resources. The lasts thing we want are a lot of resource downloads for a mod. Any mod. As a user, I shouldn't have to do anything but download and unzip, activate, and play. Anything else is a failure of quality on the developer's part.

So - with all that, GOOD LUCK! Work hard! Nerf Shamans! :D

Well thank you for the input I will def take all of those in consideration while working on this project. And i realize i'm up against some big mods but I think I can take them. Besides, my -main- goal is cleaning everything up with the most popular mods out there. Anything else that I add/change is my own personal flavor.

I admire your ambition, and this can totally be done.

All I can really contribute is that I like the chargeable spells mod that came out semi-recently. It gives magic a more living and natural course, as opposed to the cookie-cutter spells that was more like tossing varying potions at people than casting spells. Magic, to me, seems more like a source of power than a shot from a preloaded gun with this mod.

I don't know if you already have a vision of what this overhaul will entail, but as you ask us for detail in ideas, give us some back.

On the front end, what are some ideas that YOU have, get us started?

Wow i think I did check that mod out and I really liked the idea. Although I'm not sure if its in the beta stages yet. I haven't tested it just yet.

Anyways. if you want detailed stuff why don't I start with what I'm going to do first. I had planed on mixing the popular mods like OOO and MMM and Frans I believe the other one was. I heard about this FCOM that said it merged them all together but i'm not really sure if it does or not. Anyways if it doesn't I want to put them together. From there I'm planning on using the better cities mod which seems to be a hit and combine it. Although the city it leaves out is the IC so I plan on re vamping that when I've gotten everything squished together. So I'd like to hear some ideas as to what they would like to see in the IC. like stores? NPCS? other buildings and clutter?

i must mention that This mod is not intended for lower end computers. the only thing a lower end comp could play this is either turn the graphics to the lowest setting which I don't think anyone would like to do. Or using low res textures. Which if some one wants to do they can. I might include low res textures when i'm done and include it as an add on or a patch or something but its not high on my priority list.

Oh yeah as soon as I get done going through the mods I'm going to put a list on here of all of them and have an open poll to see if people want it or not. if they do then it goes in. If they don't it doesn't. Although i think if someone wanted a mod that wasn't in the original project by popular vote they can message me and depending on the size of the mod I'll put it in for them.

Of course any help would be appreciated. I know I said i'll do this myself but many hands make for easy work as the saying goes so please if you are interested in working on it let me know.

Thanks again for all the input. And please by all means keep it coming.
