Striker51z
I am having major issues with the mods and need directed through out the whole thing. I installed fallout 3 and then installed geck and FOMM. I then added mods onto it and noticed that all of the gun mods game out in a texture that would match the backround or terrian that it was in. Then i noticed i needed to install archive invalidation and i did. I tried to go on fallout 3 to see if it fixed it and then it instantly stoped and came up with a error saying theres a problem and that i had to shut it down and did. I tried turning all of the mods off and it didn't work. I just finished uninstalling everything and need to be directed on how to do this and how to install fallout 3 so it can work with no issues. I am using windows 7 and my laptop is good enough to play the game considering it has a nividea 230m graphics card.
FadingCeiling
Hello, 1. Install the Games For Windows Live @ http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/index.aspxOn the top bar hover over to Live and then select Get the Client. Download and install it. 2. Install Fallout 3 BUT some other place than the Program Files folder! 3. Install the Official 1.7 Patch 4. Start Fallout 3 once! So you get the .INI files and so on. You can set your graphics also at this point from the launcher. Don't start a new game. When you get the to the main menu exit the game. 5. Install the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch. 6. Install FOSE 7. Install FOMM (After installing it start it up and click the Toggle Invalidation) 8. Go check your Fallout.INI for the line binvalidateolderfiles and make sure it is set t 1! If not set it yourself to 1. Now you're ready to install whatever mods you like. Be careful when installing mods and always read the readme's in them or on the webiste where you download the mods for installation instructions as they may wary and not all of the archives are straight up FOMOD compatible. And not all mods are compatible with each other. Happy Hunting

FadingCeiling
You don't need GECK to use mods. What do you mean you have the disc for the game? You mean the Fallout 3 game DVD? I don't understand what you're asking. Links to most of this stuff here? I posted a link for the G4WL and the rest should be easier to find. A bit of initiative doesn't hurt. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ <- On the right panel File Search and use it to find what you want.

Two more questions, what is FOSE and do i need archive invalidation?
FadingCeiling
If you want to use mods you do need archive invalidation. Just click the Toggle Validation in FOMM.FOSE is Fallout Script Extender (Requirement for some mods). The Game For Windows Live is just a component for the G4WL part of Fallout 3 - It's not the game. Without it for example the Official 1.7 Patch (atleast for me) does not install properly and you will get error messages when starting the game. You can use a disabler for G4WL but I haven't personally used it. I prefer just installing G4WL.
Striker51z
Ok, so i don't really need FOSE and it seems really complicated to install any way. So all i have left to do is install FOMM and archive invalidation?
FadingCeiling
Complicated my ass. You copy the files from the FOSE archive to your Fallout 3 directory and that's it.
