Creating a follower mod-Where to begin

I have no experience with modding, but I am hopeful and eager anyway. My goal is to create a few follower mods (about 3).

I want to have them fully voice acted, responsive to player actions/choices and Skyrim quests with a moral/approval system, talk to my other follower characters, and also have quests of their own.

 

So my question is, where do I begin?

There are plenty of tutorials on it that are good to start with. I think this was one that I used.
