Nvidia finally loses.

AMD's R9 295x2 ($1,500) beats out Nvidia's Titan-Z ($3,000). Apparently they pulled the launch because it just could not compete with the AMD equivalent. This is a victory against PC gaming tyranny. Down with Nvidia's overpriced crap!

Don't forget they are comparing a dual graphics instead of single graphics cards, if Nvidia pulled together a 2x card with dual gtx780 ti's, it'll be a good fight.

 

So that comparison is not a very good one. When amd comes out with a single video card that can out perform a gtx780 ti at low cost, it might be a win for Amd. Yet they haven't :sad: .

From what I understand, the R9 290x can match the 780 TI but only with really good aftermarket cooling. The R9 is great for the first 30 minutes but then tanks in performance.

They also claim that the r290x suffers from throttling issues, when in turbo mode. So I can see that also effecting performance. Wait until we see some aftermarket coolers to judge that effect.

...Titan Z is a dual GPU card.

 

And it is dual 780Ti.

The 295x2 has no throttling issues since the stock version (from AMD) is liquid cooled. In a review, at 4k textures, pushed to 100% load, the card topped at 68C. While the 290X does, the 295x2 does not.

Titan Z is two Titan Blacks, which are second generation Titans with GK110 dies sporting 2880 CUDA cores. Titan Z basically uses the same GPUs that are in 780 Ti but with fully unlocked double-precision like Quadro. :wink:
