bmoose17
I'm new to modding and I am having a problem with new mods I am downloading. Every time I equip an item that came with a mod it looks like there is a northmarker, or other yellow box with a ! on my head. The item doesn't show up at all and doesn't have an icon in my inventory. This has happened with all of the items included in the mods I have downloaded. What am I doing wrong? theuseless
first a couple of questions: 1: have you made sure your computer can handle the game?2: What mods specifically have you downloaded?3: what load order are they listed? If all this makes no sense, I would suggest looking at my tutorials page. It has a few tutorials aimed at noobs, just check the first category. Tutorials Abound! If none of that works, I would think you might have a pirated copy in which case you should buy the game. I've heard nothing but bad things about the downloads (other than STEAM, which is legal). Maigrets
If none of that works, I would think you might have a pirated copy in which case you should buy the game. I've heard nothing but bad things about the downloads (other than STEAM, which is legal). You're making quite an assumption here when the problem means he has a missing mesh added by a mod. What is described is the typical place holder image for a mesh the game can't locate. @ bmoose17Make sure you install the mod correctly. The meshes and textures folder must go to the data directory as described in the mod Readme if it has one. When you download a mod, make a temporary folder somewhere out of the Oblivion directory and extract the files there. Then check what it contains. If there is a meshes folder move it to the Oblivion\data directory and overwrite if asked. Nothing will be removed but new content will be added in the correct places. Do the same with any other folders including the esp and an esm if there is one. Perhaps if you list the mods you're having problems with it might be easier to help. bmoose17
Thanks, Maigrets. I took your advice and opened a new folder and extracted the files there. Now everything works great!
