mechine
556 or 5.56 is the same thing, it's included in the vanilla game, so I don't think anyone would really mess with it, but they could have. I think maybe what you have run into is that the weapon mods you are using need some kind of ammo mod in order to use it. You can run into the problem if you have to use or load more than one ammo mod. Which is how Calibr came about. Rather than have 25 different ammo mods, there's just one that we really use. If it's not using Calibr it probably should be. Mostly all the weapon makers base the weapons off Calibr ammo. Find the read me's on the weapon mods you got, they probably say to use with Calibr or something. I wouldn't use more than one ammo mod, an if you ask me I wouldn't use any other ammo mod other than Calibr. So did you have a copy of Calibr loaded in your mods? Layered1048
Tried it but even after a clean installation without any mods (and deleting the map's) Stilll all rifle's that uses 5.56 ammo cannot be used so i mean even all fallout 3 rifles cannot be used
mechine
Will the assault rifle VATS a target with 5.56 ammo? If it doesn't then press ~ an type tgm then hit enter an try to shoot. If it shoots that means that the rifle is fine, there's something wrong with the ammo, an visaversa. You could have the most messed up grapics card driver issue that anyone has ever heard about, never hurts to update it. Did it always do this, or did it just happen the other day? Did you patch the game, did you read the pinned topics or QQ QA guides on how to install mods for fallout 3 on Nexus Forums?QQ QA is quick question Quick answer, but the start has a great start up guide, so do the other pinned topics. Clean installs are good if you want to learn how to install mods. I mean most times I had to do it, I learned because I tried different mods an stuff each time. It took a few before I knew what a wanted, then after a while I just made a clean one that I knew would work the best an had the stuff I knew I really wanted. Which changes as you go. Pfft, yeah like this has ever happened. Geez what did you do. ha ha sounds like something I would do. You run into crazy stuff like this.Hang in there we'll explore possible sitiuations. In the future you might want to try to figure out what's wrong before you delete it. If you can get good at that it will help in the long run if you run into anything else. Okay so possible cause. 1. You uninstalled fallout 3, but left the mods installed, somewhere around C:/programfiles/bethesdasoftworks, whoa how did he know 2. Whatever it is that you have is now locked into the save game which you didn't delete, C:/mydocuments/mygames/fallout3Mostly caused by auto saves an quick saves, which is why we never do that, an then not delete any of the saves until you are ready to delete them all 3.Somehow all the 5.56 ammo got replace with the robot 5.56 ammo, not very likely, but it sure would ruin the assault rifles 4. Installing new mods on already exisiting save games is always risky. 5. not reading the QQ QA installing mods guide or other pinned topics is risky, heh. 6. you switched your bindings on your mouse either in the fallout 3 game settings, or in windows 7. vista hates you 8.Your sister hates you an she did it, while you were not looking she replaced the ammo with robot ammo 9. you used the ~ console to add 5.56 ammo so you could shoot a assaultrifle, but you typed in the wrong form id, yes there are more than one Form Id's for different ammo, some work some don't. Questions 9. did you steam this install or steal it from smelly pirates, or buy the retail version like the normal folks? 10. Did you just start playing fallout an drop a few mods in thinking it was easy as any other game? 11. what kind of system are you running it on, do you play a lot of these type of semi realistic 3D simulations? Yeah I knew it would be a stretch if I came up with anything at all. Anyhow, You'll have to get in there an get your hands dirty to fix it. Download the GECK download the update for the geck. It installs into the fallout 3 folder before the data folder, launch it, open fallout.esm, hit okay, wait for it to load, There's a window with a bunch of stuff in it, I think it's the object window, idk, click on the "all" part at the bottom of the tree, then type WpnAssault double click on one of the entries, yes to any errors unless it prompts to auto fix, I mean it says "would you like geck to auto fix" ignore anything else, when the window opens up, change the ammo type for the weapon, to whatever, then click file save, name the file, load it in mods, it should change the vannilla weapons, rather than create new ones, if you change the names it will create new ones though, this time we need to test the vanilla ones, so you should be able to see that inside the Fallout3.esm which is the file with all the assaultrifles in it that they either are or are not set to use 5.56 ammo, but if it's something which was contained inside one of the mods should have deleted when you reinstalled (not that you should have reinstalled yet but) loading your newly created .esp you which does have 5.56 ammo selected as the ammo type for an assault rifle, it will override any silly privious mod which changed the items inside Fallout.esm which as a rule we never do, as it replaces every item already in the game, we focus on putting new things in. Anyhow hope you can get somewhere...

mechine
Sorry, I thought maybe if I just wrote whatever came to mind it would get things going. Didn't work so well, but at least we weren't totally bored. I think that just about every time something like this happens it's something small an silly almost which causes it, so try to look at it like that. Rather than you know see it as this big problem with a huge cause, it's something small, which makes it hard for us to see it. Something came to mind, You know fallout 3 has a few little conditions which are kind of unique from other games, one of these is called mouse lag Then the chaos of the wasteland, the combat AI, physics, only exacerbates it. The tweek guide talks about how to minimize the lag, which is from when you press the mouse button, till it reaches the game engine. I think the GPU's control panel for max num of Pre GPU frames for the CPU to render has the most effect on it, but you would have to read the tweek guide. I don't really remember. I know my CPU pre frames are set to 3 by default, but I've lowered that messing around, so you could try 2 or 1 even, then if it helps, go read the tweek guide. http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html Kind of need to know what the console command TGM did, next to the 1 key on the key board is ~ which opens the console in game, then type TGM which is toggle god mode, which sets it so you don't have to reload an stuff, try to forget the command afterwards, need to know if the assault rifles will fire once TGM is active. Then the geck thing, need to know what was listed as ammo for assault rifles, and maybe even the ammo, but I suspect that it isn't contained inside the actual data, as you installed a fresh build, so maybe it's something in the system, or something left over from the privious modding. At any rate, install, patch, defrag, then get your other programs, FOMM, FOSE, GECK, GECK update, FO3edit which all go in bethesda softworks/fallout 3 the folder that has the data folder in it. Then you know it's dangerous not to read the whole read me, or at least scan over it. I've found the best way is to first get a clean install that is tweeked an tested before I start modding it, I know it runs good, then I mod it keeping it clean as I can, an have to fix all the stuff the mods broke with FO3edit. You can find the best way to learn FO3edit is at http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9616 If you knew FO3edit or even the GECK it would make short work of checking to see if this problem was in the actual data or in your system, Also it wouldn't be a bad time to start thinking about sending a case to the Bethesda softworks technical support. I'll try to advanced search if anything like this has happened before, but I doubt it. Systematicly rule out causes. What has changed in between the time the assault rifles worked, an when they didn't work.
