dirtyapple
OK, I finally got it. I verified to vanilla files for the 3rd time. Re-installed the mod, and found XComGame.upk.uncompressed_size and XComStrategyGame.upk.uncompressed_size weren't being deleted upon install. I dumped those and voila the game is up and running. AbroTheCrab
Hi. Have same problem, cant run game after patching. I tried to use 3 different "torrent edition" game, but every time got error 0xc0000142. Can someone tell what about this message. Tried reinstall DirectX and all other software needed for this game. Or this mod works ONLY with license versions?
roninpawn
Same problem here. "This program has stopped working," and nothing seems to un-stop it from not-working. Been over and over the text files making sure everything is right, from file location to file size, to the '.uncompressed_size' files that need deleted. I have the latest versions of Java in both 32 and 64 bit, as well as .Net Framework, And I've searched the hexadecimal of the binary to confirm that it has been patched by the installer! The ini's are where they ought to be... The installer did everything right and yet, here I sit a sad little Roninpawn without a Long War mod to play. )`; If anyone has cracked this nut please share it here! I have just purchased EU and EW specifically to play this mod, and bring it to my YouTube channel. I've now tinkered with both of the core games and, well... Hey, EW is pretty okay, anyway! But what I've seen of Long War is epic!!! roninpawn
Solved! Have you changed the default location of your 'My Documents' folder, like I did? That's what was keeping Long War from starting for me. XCOM wasn't able to write to the location where it usually creates savegames, user configuration files, and error logs because 'My Documents' wasn't where it XCOM expected it. (or something) Although XCOM EU and EW will run despite this - Long War crashes on initialization. THE FIX:Right click My Documents > Properties > Location (tab) > click Restore Default(and then answer the prompt to move every file from your custom location into the default location: your choice. I recommend a "no.") Open XCOM, run Enemy Within. It will fail and crash once, just like it says in the installation notes. Run it again and voila!LONG WAR, baby! *fistbump*

dubiousintent
Which platform is this (Windows, OS/X, Linux, Android, etc.)? Do you have any other mods installed prior to LW, in particular "TexMod"? Have you looked at the LW install log to see if it reported any issues? Have you read and followed the "Basic Guide to installing mods" wiki article? In particular, have you followed the "Environments" section recommendations and moved Steam out of the "C:\Program Files" tree? As for the "stuck" executable, you will have to do a "cold boot" by powering down and waiting 30 seconds before restarting. If you are using "hibernation" mode, turn it off until you have your issues resolved. -Dubious
