dave1029
8 is still acceptable. Thoughts on the new lower level API's, Thor?
Thor.
Mantle, its designed for lower end quad core cpu's and systems older then 20010. Its designed for optimizing older processors and graphics cards alike. http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/175676-amds-mantle-finally-emerges-turns-out-its-actually-for-boosting-low-end-cpus-not-gpus/2 I can still use mantle in theory, if they don't simply lock out people who have no radeon branded video cards. Its just a fighting Tactic to keep Nvidia Competitive. There is a demo on steam under software if you are interested in testing out mantel yourself. In another move by Nvidia they used their own library's in Watch Dogs that only People with Nvidia cards can utilize, but not Radeon cards. Hence they are fighting back. Edited May 31, 2014 by Thor.
dave1029
I wish they would focus on creating cards with more power, rather than get into this pissing match with the optimization.

Suggestions? There is no way for us to give any kind of suggestions when you haven't given us a context. Usage? (as in 1080p BF3 gaming, video/image editing, Oculus Rifting, etc.)Screen(s)?Other stuff? (Keyboard/Mouse/Audio setup/etc.) If I expect that you don't do any editing, only own a 1080p@60Hz IPS screen, don't play graphics intensive games, own a crappy audio setup and already have mechanical keyboards:Get 4670k or 4770k and R9 290. Use the saved money on HE-300 & EF3 or HE-400 + Optical Modi + Vali. Or a nice set of speakers like Micca MB42X + DTA-120 + SUB-1200.Or get more screens. kalikka
Then the setup makes sense. Although the 1TB SSD sounds a bit overkill :tongue:But usually it makes me cringe to think about what kind of audio setup ppl use with their $2k rigs... Ugh Edited May 31, 2014 by kalikka
